Hello! I am writing to you in a desperate state. I have an Olympus VN-5000 and have been using for interview recording for my research. It has worked fine but when I bought it, I did not realize that it did not have any connection to a computer. I found a solution however to use a line-in chord and record the recordings via audacity so I could make more room for more recordings. However, when I was clearing some of the already uploaded files on my recorder, instead of one file being deleted, the whole folder was. It all happened so fast and I'm not sure why it happened. I realize that this might be near to impossible, but is there anyway to access the built-in memory in the recorder (by opening it, etc) in order to retrieve those deleted files. I know your manual says it is not possible to retrieve files, but I really am in a desperate state, 45 interviews were deleted before I could upload them. Any help you have would be much appreciated. Thanks so much.
Try Google for VN 5000 manual, or link your device to your computer via USB cable, and click on your device, you should be able to see your items from there. Re install the file you wish to.!!
