I had a sansa a while back and have you tried formating it?
go into my computer and right click on the drive ur sansa is n, click format and follow directions from there,
that helped when mine did that

You need to turn steering wheel the same direction as the wheels are turned. When you turned the wheel quickly you were holding the wheel when you turned key to lock position and when you let go of the steering wheel it wants to go back the other direction so it is real tight against the lock.
OK, I don't mean to be obvious, but on the bottom of the device (as you're looking at the screen), there's a switch that locks it. If you can see the red, it's locked -- if you slide it over, it unlocks. Again, you may have tried that, but since it says "Hold" and not "Lock" under the switch, it's not entirely obvious. Slide the Power switch up and hold it for approximately 20 seconds.
Release the Power switch once the device is powered down.
Turn the device back on.
STEP 2 – Download and Install the Sansa Firmware Updater.
