how do you take key locked??? My device keeps shutting down

You need to turn steering wheel the same direction as the wheels are turned. When you turned the wheel quickly you were holding the wheel when you turned key to lock position and when you let go of the steering wheel it wants to go back the other direction so it is real tight against the lock.

did you try the lock on, rec button and the on button as you plugged it into the usb?

Locking the player will not allow the player to charge properly, no matter how long you have it plugged in.

Disengage the hold/lock button on top of the player.

OK, I don't mean to be obvious, but on the bottom of the device (as you're looking at the screen), there's a switch that locks it. If you can see the red, it's locked -- if you slide it over, it unlocks. Again, you may have tried that, but since it says "Hold" and not "Lock" under the switch, it's not entirely obvious.
