KitchenAid KSM5PSGR Stand Mixer - attachments not turning

Our 10 year old KitchenAid 5qt stand mixer is only half working. The regular mixer works, but, attachments placed in the front attachment slot do not work. Any ideas? The only thing I can think of is that either the brushe or the gears in the motor are gone. Where can I find brushes or gears to fix this if they are the cause? Thanks

The piece that you twist the paddle of whisk onto has broken off leaving part of it in the paddle. Model number is K5SS and the mixer, while 35 years old is still working fine.
The shaft on which the paddle attaches needs to be replaced.

Hi - I've been searching for general info on KitchenAid stand mixers and ran across this so I'm throwing my $.02 in... Since KA stand mixer bases are essentially made of cast metal parts, there is a very slim chance that there is a lateral misalignment (side-side) unless it got dropped...eek! Sounds like a head height adjustment issue. Check out this from KitchenAid Conversations:

Are attachments for a KitchenAid K5 compatible with the K55?
That would be incorrect. If the attachment is for a hobart kitchenaid mixer then it will fit all models of kitchenaid mixers including the brand new pro series because the attachment port and drive gear has not been changes since 1925 or 6 when it was first introduce by the Hobart company.

Hi all. There is damage to the transmission caused by overloading the mixer with bread or cookie dough, or by dropping a spoon or measuring cup into the mixer while it was working.

Go to mendingshed.com and download their free kitchenaid repair manual. This manual has all you, or a repair person will need to repair your model's mixer. Mending Shed also sells needed parts.
