The RM2652 should shut down when the fridge reaches proper temperature. So yes the flame should go out when operating on propane. If the refrigerator does not get cold enough, then the flame will not ever shut down. It is posible that you may require a replacement cooling unit.

SOURCE: FRIDGE WILL NOT IGNITE IN GAS MODE
The part you are looking for is the thermo couple. It senses the heat from the flame and holds the gas valve open. The clicking will try three times and then go into lock out. You then will need to reset on the front of the fridge. When installing the thermo couple do not over tighten.

Remove the upper control board panel. Use a small screw driver, open the freezer door, under the control panel you will see a slot on each side. Put the screw driver in the slot and push up. That side of the panel will pull out. Do the same on the other side. Turn the control panel over and unplug the circuit board and wait 15 seconds. Plug the board back in and give that a try. If that does not work replace the upper board. To order a board you will need Model, Serial and product # found on the inside of the fridge.

First of all any signs of burning on a circuit board means that a component has burnout in which case replacement will be required. Secondly depending on the colour of the stain , if its a dark colour the systems heaters are cooked in which case the cork insulation has melted the tare off and thats what you see on the floor. if its clear and oil based , the container has rusted and formed a leak ,in any of these scenarios its time to get a new one

Your gas valve is sticking. Could be a bad thermocouple.
Set it to come on, then with a screwdriver handle or something similar, tap, tap, tap gently on the gas valve to see if it lights.
Once it unsticks it should operate OK.
If it does not unstick, replace the gas valve.
