I thought i had updated my garmin 350 (which literally took 5 hours...so i probably should have realized there was something wrong there) and now it seems that all i have are the base maps and when i try to search for any location it says "no map data available." can someone please please help me?!

Did you try to perform a map upgrade to 2008? Turn on the Garmin and from the main menu touch the wrench,
then press Map, then look for Map info.
This will show the the current map version installed

Have you checked the wrench menu, map info, the preinstalled map should have a check mark, if not tap on the check box, it should now show a detailed map screen when you go back to the main menu and select show map.

This solution works for more than the 760. i think it will work for all 6xx and 7xx series.
a simple solution to convert Google maps to Garmin routes and is found here:
http://www.elsewhere.org/journal/gmaptogpx/
In essence, you create your route in Google maps and then click the recommended url bookmark.
Save the GPX file to the Garmin device and from "My Data" (under Tools) convert the file to a route. You are done.
hope this helps pls appreciate by rating as fixyaa thanks

This is because your map file has either been deleted or corrupted and needs to be replaced. Please see this link for more info. Too much info to copy & paste here:
