Faulty display or disply protection chips gone faulty
There could be two reasons for this problem
1. your display itself is bad or the connector is dirty. try replacing the display.
2. There are two glass IC's (display drivers) near the display connector. you will need to replace both. I had a similar problem. this seems to be a common problem with N70 phones. It can also be a manufacturing defect so better get this problem solved with a Nokia service centre. If after replacing the Ic's nothing happens then you will have to throw away your handset as the prints on the board are very fragile nowadays on these sets.

Hi friends thanks for giving me suggestions! but somehow i have managed to solve my problem without spending any money!
Here is what i did....at first i waited for the screen to become normal (it stayed normal for a very short time), then i started a game and while playing the game i pressed the menu button which left the game open..and there it is, no more white screen..although battery charge doesn't last long but its working fine.........bottom line i have to keep a game running all the time on the background! Take care!

When i switch on my mobile,it stays 5n 4 sumtime but if it is left undisturbed a white screen appears.If it is disturbed again a black line runs through the screen,makes 2 rounds and then the screen comes back to normal state.I amnt able to figure out y this is happening.Anyone to help me????
