I have a 12 cup cusinart grind & brew. The hopper is not working

I have a 12 cup cusinart grind and brew. The grinder whirrs like it's grinding, but the hopper is not vibrating to let the beans go down in there. I've taken the top part apart and unstopped the grinder, but still no luck. Any suggestions? It's not that old of a machine.

You may have to clean the grinder....even more. That happened to me once. First I cleaned out the coffeemaker with the brush, and "dug" out more coffee, then I used this product which you can find on Amazon: "Urnex Grindz Coffee Grinder Cleaner - Urnex 17-GRINDZ12-40." It's expensive, but it really worked well.

I purchased a GE Coffee Grinder Model number 111338 54, but there wasn't an owner's manual with it, and the first time we plugged it in it doesn't work. We just wanted to make sure we were operating...

I'm on my second grinder of this model.......... in the past 2 months. The first stopped working so I just took it back and replaced it. The second time it quit working I removed the cup with the grinded coffee and noticed smoke wafting up from the unit. Both times it quick working I was grinding 12 cups of beans (12 cups of brewed coffee, not 12 cups of actual beans). The unit shouldn't have a setting to grind that much coffee if it burns the motor out, which is what happened.

try cleaning the grind chute again. if problem persists:
this is a cronic problem with the DGB900BC even after cleaning. the problem is the gate or trap to the grounds needs to open/remain open during grinding or all backs up and jams. my unit opens the door (correctly) during the rotation but closes just before grinding (over-rotation?). Cuisinart is not aware of this problem (800-726-0190). please call them; i just have.

Machine says beans are empty and will not brew.

Try adjusting the grinder coarser when it is running. Either the grind is too fine or the grinds chamber is blocked, remove the brew unit and check the gate to the grinder on the inside right.

Machine has major problem with grinding beans.

Try removing all beans from bean holder - then use a vacumn machine to remove the bits down amongst the grinder "teeth'. You may have had a small stone in your coffee and if so it may have jammed the grinder.

Once it looks clean, try making a cup of coffee without the beans in the hopper - you should be able to see and hear the grinder revolving and also hear the brew unit moving between the grinder outlet and the water inlet. If it all seems ok now, then add a small amount of beans back into the beans hopper and try making a coffee. If it still will not work, get it serviced. There's not much the average person can do inside these units other than to do more serious damage or kill themselves with an electric shock.

Grind Off light blinking

Mine was doing that for the past week. I think it was indicating there had been a power outage but that the clock had not reset to zeros. I changed the time a couple of minutes and it stopped.

Cusinart 12 cup grind and brew overflows with grinds and water

Coffee overflowing onto the counter is a common complaint found in response to many automatic drip coffee makers. The following are potential solutions that can be used to rule out "operator error" vs. a defect or malfunction:

1. Do not "pack" or otherwise overfill the cone/basket with grinds.
2. Ensure you are using the correct grind for an automatic drip coffee maker, neither too fine nor too course. (See instruction manual.)
3. Do not overfill with water. Use the carafe to pour water into the reservoir. This is because a "cup" in coffee terms is defined as 6 oz, not 8 oz. Note: Some coffee makers define as little as 5 oz as a cup.
4. Make sure the filter cone/basket clicks into place and that the carafe is centered and pushed all the way in.
5. Try a permanent filter rather than a paper filter or vice versa.
6. Only use the correct permanent or paper filter (see manual).
7. Verify that the Pause 'n Serve button isn't sticking. If it is activated too long the brew will escape over the top of the cone/basket. This may be more apt to happen if the alignment of the carafe and the basket is incorrect.
8. Clean your machine with vinegar or as instructed by your user manual at least three times per year, more if your water supply is hard. A properly cleaned machine is less likely to suffer a burned out heating element, to take too long to brew, to produce "off" tasting coffee, or to clog and overrun the filter basket as the water runs through the grinds.
9. Ensure that the coffee machine is sitting level on the counter.

Coffee grinder clogging

Remove the grind chamber.
There is a black plastic pice sticking up in the area underneath where the grind chamber would sit. Lift it up, and you will see it is sort of like a hatch. It is probably clogged with coffee grinds.
Go ahead and clear out this chute, and see if it resolves the problem.
