Tag Heuer Monza Chronograph buttons

One of the chronograph buttons on my Monza has fallen off. This is the second time this has happened (the watch is 5 years old). The last time it happened the repairers (LVMH) said it had been knocked - I disagreed but accepted the cost of repair because I couldn't prove otherwise. This time I found the button in my car (hardly a place to knock a watch). I would like to know if this is a common problem with Monzas, perhaps due to a design fault.

SOURCE: How to set up time on TAG HEUER SLR CHRONOGRAPH ?

The crown at 3 o'clock is used to set the time and change modes. The crown at 9 o'clock is used to rotate the flange at the edge of the dial.
The A button at approximately 2 o'clock starts and stops the chronograph function. The B button at approximately 4 o'clock resets the chronograph.

Lap Timer: When the watch is displaying normal time, press the right side crown to switch to chrono mode (the hour hand will indicate CHRONO). This watch measures lap times, press A to start timing the first lap. Press A again to stop the first lap and automatically start timing the second lap (the hour hand will move to indicate you're on the second lap), and so on. You can measure up to 20 laps this way. When you're fininshed timing laps, press the right side crown to see the best lap time. To reset the lap timer, hold down B for 2 seconds. To switch out of chrono and see the normal time, just press the right side crown in.

Chronongraph: To time an interval that is not a lap, just follow the above instructions, but instead of pressing A to stop the first lap, press B and the watch will show the elapsed time to the nearest 1/100th of a second. Hold B to reset.

Crown at 9 o'clock: This crown rotates the inner flange at the edge of the dial and is used to measure total race time (i.e. the total of all the laps). Simply rotate the crown until the the little start trinagle on the flange is aligned with the minute hand. This way, the total elapsed time can be read at any time, similarly to how a rotating bezel works.

To set the time: Ensure the watch is not in CHRONO mode, if so, press the right side crown in. At this time pull the right side crown out until you feel a click. The position the second hand moves to indicates what is currently being set. If the second hand is at 9 o'clock, you are setting am hours, press A repeatedly to set am hours. Then press B and the second hand will move to 6 o'clock, pressing A repeatedly will set the minutes. So on for year (11 o'clock), month (12 o'clock), and day (1 o'clock).

SOURCE: Heuer chronograph second hands will not reset to

Pull out crown and then push the upper button and hold it. The chrono hand should start move and you should be able to adjust it. If this doesn't work, try the same with lower button. When adjusted - push the crown back in. In fact there are very many variations how to reset chrono hand, but exact advise can be given if the movement caliber of particular watch is known.

SOURCE: My Tag Heuer chronograph will not reset to zero.

Try the following, which I discovered by accident on my Tag Professional. Pull the crown out to the first position, and then you may find that successive pushes of the upper pushbutton will move one of the chrono hands by one division, and the lower pushbutton will move a different chrono hand. Similarly if you pull the crown out to the second position, the pushbuttons will control the other chrono hands. In this way you can set each of the chrono hands to their zero positions. Hope this works for you. Geoff

Tag Heuer recognizes manuals by watch caliber number, not the watch model. Browse through my Tips and Tricks. There are few Tag Heuer watch manuals. Check out if this can help you.

I have an ct1115 tag heuer aquaracer chronograph and the caps to the buttons on the side fell off easy fix? you can push them with your nail the watch still works etc. the covers are gone

The pushers sound like they have fallen off. This is quite a common problem.Take care as the watch wont be waterproof. The parts will need to be obtained from TAG and fitted by a watchmaker.Return the watch to an agent for them to attend to or find a watchmaker that can get TAG parts.
www.rolexrepairs.co.uk are specialist watchmakers that could help.
