RCA 52" tv. model # D52W20

Long story-short: Room mate moved my tv, Coaxial cable was real short, he muscled it out and pulled the "coaxial cable input" out of the tv. I re-soldered it but the picture is horrible now. Upon further investigation, theres a little silver box (about the size of a deck of cards), that the coaxial cable actually goes into....(that the input plug goes in to). How can I get a new one of those? please please please. Like I said, the little silver box that the cable input wire comes from. THANKS!

I believe I have the same problem. I am not able to determine how to remove the 2nd cover to see behind the coax input. I am not sure it is broken but the picture is terrible. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

The silver box is called the TUNER. Call an RCA distributor, such as Union Electronics or Herman-Panson and order it by description by asking for the tuner for your model number. Have the location number on the board, just in case.

I moved the Mintek Tv from my bedroom to the living room, the tv cable cord will not screw into the Tv, I was told that I need a adapter, coax to av-rca, is this correct? What do you think?

Not sure due to lack of information to go on
I. think you need a tv coaxial female to f plug male adapter
really depends on the TV cable cord what is the gender of the end of the cable if it is coaxial male then the adapter needs a female coxial
if the tv has a female socket hole then the f type part of adapter needs to be a male.

The tv manual may shed some more info on the type of RF antenna coaxial connector. it uses.
RCA can be confused as av is to do with with hooking up a Video recorder with Video output being the yellow plug and audio with Red and white plugs.

I think you need a RF coaxial adapter rather than AV RCA if you are connecting tv to a tv antenna or tv antenna splitter device.
there is a RCA standard that has adapter like below link http://www.radioparts.com.au/product/30255099/pa5099-%27f%27-plug-to-rca-socket-adaptor#.VUa7uJM_xhI
again gender types are needed to be considered before deciding if correct type of adapter..
You could research the rca rf standard to see if it is used in your country. My country uses Pal coaxial standard.

Model d52w23 coaxial connect

Some of those models were actually just big monitors without any on board tuners so They didnt have any need for coax cable inputs. You most likely have one of the monitors.

Broken tuner

If the board is not cracked,a qualified technician may be able to sloder another coaxial jack for a service call charge. Look carefully with a flash light........if you see the small board is cracked.....it will need the tuner and could cost $200. You may be able to cicuimvent by hooking your cable box or satellite box into the video inputs instead......select with input button on remote and should work fine with no repair at all

The coaxle broke where you put the cable line on

The coaxial connects inside the set to the tuner. It needs to be resoldered in to the board & secured on the outside to the tuner. Its a quick fix at any tv repair shop. Unless u tried stick something inside & damaged internals of tuner

Tuner replacement on RCA D52W20

If you are comfortable doing some small repair work, you might be able to fix this with stuff you have laying around.

All you need is:
1 - 8" piece of coaxial cable with male connector on one end
1 - set of RCA cables (Red/White/Yellow)
1 - coaxial coupler
2 - small wire nuts

electrical tape

Take the back housing off of your TV. You may have to unscrew the small nut holding the threaded connector to the TV. This threaded connector should connect to the motherboard with a male RCA prong that should be soldered to the component on the motherboard. You will need to carefully cut
& remove the old soldering & wiggle the connector off. This is the hardest part, but it WILL come off with a little trying.

Now get your coax cable and strip off about 2" of the black outside housing ONLY. Your solid copper` interior cable should be protected by a small plastic coating which is covered in braided wire. You'll need to be careful not to cut the braiding off. Untangle the braiding down to where your cut stops and try and get it all on one side of the cable so you can twist it all together and make a nice wire. Now strip about an inch off of your interior plastic sheathing to reveal the small solid copper wire on the very inside.

Get your RCA cable and cut about 6" off of the one yellow side. Follow the same process above to get a braided sheathing wire and a solid copper wire. Attach this yellow wire to the coaxial cable by twisting the two braided wires together and the two solid copper wires together. Use your wire nuts & electrical tape to secure your connections making sure none of the wires can touch each other.

Connect the yellow cable's male prong into the component on the motherboard and attach your coaxial coupler to the male end of your coaxial cable. If you saved the small nut from earlier, you can re-attach this new coupler to the housing on your TV. Screw your housing back on the TV and you should be good to go.

RCA HDTV Cabel Connection

HD doesnt come over the coaxial cable into the TV. It has to use HDMI, composite (5 color RCA cables) or DVI. they can all be soldered back on if you ripped one out. easier to use another input if you have multiple formats back there.

Coaxial to component

You may need an extra HD tuner for your TV. The only problem that you may have would be the original signal running through the coaxial cable. If it's just regular TV stations, the tuner should fix the problem.
