Do you mean slow printing at work? You're question is not very specific. In case you mean at work, it can be because of too many print jobs which are too big. The main cause of slow printing is due to a bad print cartridge. To troubleshoot this please remove one of your cartridges and see if your printing speeds up. If that does not work. Replace the cartridge and remove the other cartridge. If your printing speeds up. That print cartridge is at fault.
the print file detail may be multi-layered may be too much information in print job- your printer memory may not be adequate, you may be printing through a slow network, you may be printing through an older print server which is as slow as parallel port printing or you may be printing through your parallel port which is slow.
Remove both cartridges, switch off printer and then on. After cartridge holder comes to the center install both the cartridges. Then it will print the Alignment page. After alignment page prints place the Alignment page on to the scanner and press SCAN button as mentioned in the Alignment page. After completing the scan try printing. It will print the usual speed. I am a Canon trained authorized tech on these machines and have been working in the field on the ImageRunner 3300 series since their release. I'm not sure if a ram upgrade is available but I haven't installed one in the six plus years of servicing this machine to fix a slow print problem.
What model? Is it a deskjet? If so, they are typically slow by nature :)
