Re: how do I set up model 50v500 hitachi tv to receive hd
You have to have an hd cable box it is different from your run of the mill digital cable box. Most people rent them from their cable provider. This will enable you to get HD channels through them

You need to upgrade to the high definition
cable box---but first try this. Hook the cable from the wall directly to the tv
and autoprogram it. If Comcast is anything like charter they transmit the local
Hd channels in a format that digital tuner will pick them up. Just channel
up/down and check out the channels with -1 and -2's behind them. Depending on
where you are----your local channels will usually show up wherever they
normally do but with a -1 behind it.
EX: local Fox channel on 47---autoprogram and check 47-1
If this is enough HD for you then get a two way spitter and hook your box back
up and keep using the RCA (composite) cables for the best it can produce.
Here is the setup copde page http://universal.dev.efocus.nl/?pag=54. I didn't see that model remote listed but many times the remote manufacturer will use the same codes.... So look at other remote codes for Hitachi and see which one works.
Just do not expect it to be a great picture for long but, you never know you may have a rare good one. For that price I would put it
in the garage and have something special to watch the games on. Even if it goes bad the lamp is almost worth that in some circles.
there should be 3 sets of video rca jacks on tv or receiver they might have put them on the wrong rca jack in which they just need to be moved over
usually the 3rd set of rca jacks are component jacks not for tv or video but for low output signals say like cameras and only one set of rca's can be used at a time svg on one of them rca's will over power the vid's. so have no picture
No manual came with the set, cannot get it to automatic program from Cable.
