Re: Problem with Panasonic DVD Recorder DMR-ES15 We have...
With a soft cloth, clean the 'hole' area of a DVD that you know worked in the past. Sometimes oils from our fingers get on the disc and then the disk can't spin properly. If the problem persists, open the case and look for two failed capacitors. (See similar solutions on this website.)
I have been using the phillips DMR-ES15 successfully as a dvd player for a couple of years. I recently started using it to record on DVD-RW disc's (got rid of my DVR through DISH) After two weeks of recording and reformatting, the player now says it can't reformat disc, so I have inserted other DVD-RW's, 2 DVD+R's and multiple DVD-R discs and the machine says format failed when you try to format. When you put a disc in, it says it needs to be formatted abd when you follow the steps you get the format failed error everytime on every disc. I have unplugged, reset to default settings, anything else to try would be great.
Have you tried using DVD-RAM?
