Does this happen to all cds? If yes, your DVD/CDrom might need cleaning. Try cleaning it using a cd cleaner and let it spin for 30 seconds. If it still does not read cds, you can open the casing and clean the lens with a soft earbud damped in an alcohol and gently wipe on the lens. Put everything back and try playing cds again. Also, make sure that your cds are clean so that the lens wont be having hard time reading them.
Please note that the formats of DVD and CD are quite different. Whereas a DVD drive can handle both DVD and CD, a CD drive can only handle cd formats. Furthermore, a drive that reads both formats does not necessarily mean it can handle the writing aspect ok. You need a drive that is capable of writing/burning DVD. Most drives that come along with pcs can only write CDs but able to read both. So check your drive to see whether or not it can write on DVDs ok. Good luck
nope it happens to me, if your laptop still under warrantee call toshiba and they will replace it to you. the problem is the lens not reading the cd, try to clean it by dvd cleaner if its not working replace it.
