I have no sound on my ipod and apopup say generic volume running

Make sure the iPod Classic isn't simply paused or locked.
Check the screen for a lock symbol.

Tips & Warnings

hi there, in order to unlock the volume on the iPod, follow my directions. First, scroll down to settings on the iPod. There should be a thing for volume on the iPod. Click that and scroll it to the right. Then click enter and it should reset the volume. If he set a password, then you need to talk to that friend and ask him what password he set. If he doesn't know, then you need to restore the iPod.

All Ipod docks bypass the audio processor, so your volume and equalizer presets on the ipod will not work. Use the volume knob on the home theater unit itself.

It sounds like the volume has been limited. Go to settings and then volume. Then set the volume to volume you want.

it sounds like when you formated it you removed the basic programs to run the ipod,if you go onto apples website you can download the factory settings to your ipod and it should then work when you have put music back on.
