It is a very tricky task to put this belt on but I think I can work you through it. When you get the belt around the drum and get to the idler, push the belt under the idler wheel and through the forks of the idler pully assy. attaching it to the pully on the motor. Tension should be on the idler pushing the wheel up toward the drum. Hope this helps.

Replace belt whirlpool dryer WED7500VW

remove the front panel on the dryer, get the old belt and take it and the model number into your local shop to get the proper belt, put the new belt around the drum with the groves towards the drum, replace the front panel. on the lower part section of the dryer on the back there will be a panel you remove it see the motor, reach in and place the belt around the pulley on the motor then carefully force the tension idler down towards the floor till you can place the lower section of the belt into the pulley on the tension idler and release the idler. you can now run the dryer, as the drum turns the belt will place itself. hope this helps.

My whirlpool 6th sense condenser dryer has stopped working.due to the belt breaking, how do I get the new belt round the motor.

By saying motor I assume you already have it around the drum. With the belt hanging down push the right side of the belt under the idler pulley and push the pulley to the right until you can put it around the motor pulley.

My whirlpool ler5620kq1 elec dryer is almost 8 yrs old and I am looking to replace belt and need instructions

ALWAYS UNPLUG YOUR DRYER BEFORE ATTEMPTING TO DO ANY WORK ON IT.
If you have to check/replace your drum belt and if you have a front loading machine.
Remove the electrical console that holds the timer switch, start switch, etc. from the top of the dryer. Be real careful not to knock any of the wires off of the timer switch or other connections.
Remove the lint filter screws and filter.
Then remove the top of the dryer.
Remove the front of the machine, this will expose the belt and drum, remove the drum and belt and this will expose the drum rollers, idler arm bracket with pulley, and motor with pulley. Pay attention to the route of the belt, this will come in handy when you go to reinstall the belt and drum.
Sometimes the belt will slip off of the idler arm or motor causing the drum not to turn.
While you have the drum out, I would recommend that you lubricate the drum rollers at the shaft of the roller with a good grade of machine oil like 3 in One oil. This will save you a problem later with the rollers getting noisy, also check your drum rollers for flat spots, if they have flat spots on them this will cause a noise like a thumping type noise. You will need to replace the drum rollers if they have flat spots on them.

Need to replace drum belt

Most dryers have a tensioner pulley that the belt needs to go around to keep it tight. The belt goes around the motor pulley and the drum, but it goes around the tensioner pulley in a way that would keep it tight (you also need to release the tension on the tensioner to get the belt around it) If there's not a tensioner pulley there has to be some other means of putting tension on that belt, look around the the other pulleys that the belt goes around.

Drum won't turn

Your dryer uses a belt wound around a spring loaded pulley and, around the middle of the drum and, around the motor pulley to turn the drum. If you feel capable of fixing ths yourself: Unplug the dryer, if it is gas or, electric. if it is gas: shut off the gas line to the dryer then remove the gasline; next pull the dryer out from the wall and, remove the back panel. Once you do this you will see that the belt has fallen off both the motor pulley and, the spring tension pulley. put the belt back on so that the belt is tight around the drum and, the drum will turn again.

Burning Smell from Belt on Whirlpool Dryer

Hi, You need to check and see if the belt has slipped off of one of the pulleys. Was the idler the wheels style or a glide style?
Make sure the grooves in the belt are facing the drum and they are in the grooves of the motor pulley.
Please let me know if this helps and if I can assist you further.

Dryer belt replacement

To replace the belt, you have to take the front off the dryer and lift out the drum. With the new belt, place it around the drum and with the drum in place put the excess belt through the idler pulley or bracket (depending on your model), then around the motor pulley. You push the bracket or idler arm toward the motor to get the "loop" of the belt around the pulley on the motor. Hope this helps! Paul Hoffmanns

How do you put the belt on a 1996 dryer belt? The pulley had fallen to the bottom of the dryer and now we are unsure of where it is originally supposed to be.

Hi 815carey,
That is a hard thing to describe with out a diagram but I will try my best for you. First thing would be to put the belt around the motor. then take the idler pulley and pull it back and put it under both parts of the belt. This will supply the tension you need to keep the belt tight. If you are having trouble getting the the pulley inplace I would need to know the brand of dryer. In most cases if it fell off it is a whirlpool or a whirlpool made Kenmore. It that case the idler will mount directly underneath the shaft of the dryer just slightly to the left of the pulley on the motor. I really hope this helped you. mca0824
