Whirlpool ADP 5966 Dishwasher using the complete salt load in 6 washes and coating all the dishes in salt that would not rinse off. I filled the salt and 6 washes later it was requiring a new load of salt. We have had the machine for 5 years no trouble The problem is a complete overload of salt coating everything in the rinse water and drying on during the heated drying cycle. The problem is not caused by the following Cracked of failed seals on the lid to salt compartment Not enough water or no rinse cycle Use of non recommended detergent No fault lights or error codes

SOURCE: I put powder detergent in salt compartment in my

Scoop out as much as you can and the fill the compartment with warm water until it forces as much detergent out as possible out and then repalce the cover and run the drain cycle on the machine. The fill the salt compartmwnt with warm water a further 2 or 3 times to get rid of most of it if not all of it and drain. When completed then fill the compartment with salt.

We have hard water at our home, but the new dishwasher leaves a thick film on the glasses. We use the rinse agent, but it's awful.

You have to buy a cartridge type water softener and attach it to the
inlet water line of your dish washer. In addition to this there must be
a salt compartment in the dish washer.
Refer the user guide /owners manual and locate. Fill it with the special
dish washer salt. ( Do not use kitchen salt used for food).
The dish washer salt may help to certain extent in softening the wash
tub water inside. Check the switch settings for rinse aid and salt
release settings in the machine. Refer manual!

My new dishwasher leaves a white residue on my pots. pans and stainless flatware. I have not changed soap. Could the water not be hot enough?

Check the incoming water quality. If water is hard and having calcium content this could happen. Use water softeners in the inlet water to the machine.

If dish washer salt compartment available fill with the special salt meant for dish washers.

Check rinse aid compartment and fill rinse aid. Or use two in one soap tablet.

My Dishwasher leaves a white film on dishes.

check inlet water quality. If more calcium deposits in the water this could happen. Try using water water softeners.

If provision for dish washer salt check and add salt. ( not kitchen salt )

Finally check whether rinse aid compartment is filled with the liquid. If you are tablet, extra rinse aid not needed. Try all the above.

Whirlpool dishwasher leaves white coating on plastic utensils like spatulas etcwhen finished washing. It also doesn't seem to clean a glasses and dishes as well as it used to. dishwasher is about 8years...

Hi

White film deposits are observed if water is hard or when you are using more detergent than needed, try filling detergent cup half way. Try using white vinegar after the wash cycle is complete, run a complete cycle. Also turn down the heat on the hot water fed to the dishwasher. Try using water softener for better results.
You can also add vinegar in the final rinse cycle.
Hope this helps... Please post back if more information is required.

Dishes seem to have a powery residue on them after they're clean

Check inlet water quality for hardness. If salt chamber is provided, fill the chamber with salt meant for washing machine.

Use the recommended wash soap.

Check rinse aid and fill if required.

Gritty/sandy feeling on dishes from dishwasher

You could only check the basics. Since the dishes are clean, it means they went through the wash cycle. It also means that that the holes on the washer arm are not blocked. If they were salty and dirty the wash arms would be something to check. And since they came out feeling like salt is on them its possible they didn't rinse and its also possible the dirty water didn't drain. Were your drain and fill hoses checked or did the techs just check the dish washing machine itself? Its also possible the water for rinse is not hot enough. Before the rinse cycle comes around try running the hot water at your kitchen faucet. Any other issues may be within the cycling of the machine.

White film and food particles on dishes

Did you check the incoming water quality, regarding hardness!

If your washing machine supports salt addition technique, fill the appropriate box and fill the salt that is meant for washing machines. Salt works as a softener.

Finally check your rinse aid also for it's fill in the dispenser meant for it

Problems with my bosch dishwasher

there should be no salt getting into the wash cavity. if you are sure that it is leaving salty water on the items then either the salt cap is loose/damaged or the regeration system is faulty-this is an expensive fix.

Whirlpool dishwasher

We had same problem with our ADP 5966. An engineer over the phone said he thought it was related to machine being unable to drain. I checked the drainage pipe connection to u-bend under sink, and sure enough, there was a major blockage. Cleared that and hey presto, problem solved.
