Can't get refresh signal to work for xm radio

I have tried calling xm radio and taking the car into dealership.  I only get the preview channel and emerg. channel.  I am getting a signal because I can get two channels, but when they send a refresh signal nothing happens.  I have called 7 times and get the same answer.

    How do I reset the radio?  I can't find instructions to do that in the manual.

    I have done all these things.  I have been on the phone with them for hours.  I have the right id number.  I have to do the same steps and then they tell me to call them back if it still doesn't work.  I call them back and they tell me the same steps.  Now they are telling me they will have someone from tec. support call me back within the next 72 hours.

    My xm radio is frozen on channel 1 with no audio and chan unauthorized flashing across the screen. I have called to have the signal refreshed but still does not work. I cant find a reset in the manuel for my 2013 Nissan., Can anyone send a suggestion ? If not i will have to take it back to the dealership. Thanks

    I just unplugged the battery itself for 20min. Don't rip apart the dash.

To reset the radio - it must be removed from the dash and unplugged.
Be sure to write down any anti-theft codes if your radio requires them.

However - since your radio is getting the 2 channels - it is working properly. The problem lies in XM turning on your account.

Be sure to get the correct # off the radio... sometimes there is a transposition error with paperwork.
The number can be gotten by setting your radio to channel 0. This is your radio ID# required to activate the radio.

Your Radio is working fine - call XM and stay on the line until they activate your account.

I have a suspicion the number was written down improperly.

Be sure when you call that the car is on, and that it is tuned to station #1... also - it can take 15-20 minutes to activate - and must be left on for the duration to catch the activation signal that is sent out.

Here are the steps from XM to activate manually-

Get Your XM Radio Activated Online

Step1 Turn on your XM radio and tune it to channel 0. The display will read your XM radio's identification number. This number will include both letters and numbers. Write this number down and head to your computer.

Step2 Log onto the Internet and go to the XM radio website. A high speed connection to the Internet will make this go faster, but you can activate your XM radio online with dial up.

Step3 Click on the tab that says to activate a new XM radio. This will take you to a screen where you will enter your XM radio's identification number. Type this in.

Step4 Choose a screen name and password to make an account on the XM web site. The screen name should be something that you will easily remember. The password needs to be at least 7 characters long and include 1 capital letter, 1 lowercase letter, and 1 number.

Step5 Enter your personal information for the activation of your XM radio. This information will include your name, address, and email address. You will also need to choose which service plan you will want to purchase for your XM radio. Enter your credit card payment to finish purchasing your activation of your XM radio online.

Step6 Turn on your XM radio and tune it to channel 1. XM will send a signal out to your XM radio to activate it. You will need to leave the radio tuned to channel 1 for 15 to 20 minutes to activate it.

    There is no alternate fix.

    The problem is on the programming end.

    XM will need to get it straight - and don't leave the phone with tech support until your radio is functioning.

    Your radio is working properly... make them make u right.

    Id be willing to bet they give you additional months of free service for your hassle ;)

    If the truck is a new purchase - i would suggest calling your salesman or talking to the owner and tell him of your situation.



    For the hard reset - you will need to pull the radio and XM reciever and unplug for approximately 20 min.



    Again - if its new... have the dealership do the work - and if it it "working" as the dealership has told you - ask them to prove it to you by tuning to station 66. If nothing comes on - its not working.



    Dont give up!!

I also have the same thought you are getting the siginal, you might have scanned for station many till now i hope.need to contact Consumer Electronics Technical Assistance Center at 1.877.463.3574. Assistance Center hours are: Monday-Friday 8:30 a.m.- 6:00 p.m. EST. else get it replaced.

Sounds like either the radio itself is bad, or the antenna may be, even though you get the 2 channels. I had this problem with a 05 silverado.

i had the radio replaced and all was better

Reset alls ettigns of your radio to factory defaults.
Also check its battery and othe rpower source working fine.
Also check there is not any diturbbanse of waves near it.

How do i refresh xm radio ?

Go to Channel 0 and get your serial number. Then, make sure you have a good signal, leave radio on Channel 1 for 1/2 hours after calling 1-800-XM-RADIO and ask they to refresh your radio. They will tell you how long to wait - okay?

Changing channels

You need to buy a subscription. If you already have a subscription, call XM and request that they 'refresh' you radio. Leave it on Ch1 for 1/2 hour, then test for ch 175 and ch7 and you're in business.

ID 4Z9AB0MC activated 2 days ago. Cannot select channels. Thumbwheel only displays 3 channels, ch.0,1,247. When pre/dir is pressed and a channel is selected, the selected channel number flashes...

Use plug-in power supply and leave on channel 1. Call XM (1-800-XM-RADIO) and ask them to "refresh" your radio. WAIT 1/2 hour, then check your channels. Make sure you have a decent signal too (can hear Channel 1 okay) before you call XM for the 'refresh signal' for your new radio.

Try plugging the bus cable into the other port on the XM module. If you have it in the wrong one, you can control it, see channel names but get no sound.

Xm will not work

i understand that you're only getting preview channels..and had the radio for almost 3 years....yes, they might be correct that your radio was broken already...but, have you ever asked them to refresh the signal into your radio? If you want you can do it online at www.refresh.xmradio.com all you to do is to key in your 8-digit radio i.d(can be found on ch. 0) then click submit...it'll give u the activation instructions...that u need to follow faithfully..if this won't work..i'll get back to you next week..Godbless!

XM Loading Problem for Volkswagen

I had the same issue. I called XM multiple time to have the signal resent. I told them I was receiving the preview channels and nothing else. I asked them multiple times if it could be hardware issue and they said no. I took it to the dealer and they ran a test ($98) and determined that the unit had failed. They didn't charge me for the $800 unit, but they did charge me $300 for the installation. Its working fine now.

XM reciever FM transmitter problem

hi Mr.Frazier....is the xm radio hardwired installed? if it's a yes you have to go to a professional(bestbuy, retailers) to have the connection check.. the problem is not within the xm radio..it's on how it was installed or set up...

If the radio was not built..well, that's much better we just have to check the audio connection from you're xm to fm radio (make sure to check if what band it is connected..such as AUX,CD etc.) if there's a sound but you're only getting preview channels..refresh must be send on the radio...you can call xm to ask for that OR do it online at www.refresh.xmradio.com and type in your 8 digit radio I.D just have to follow the activation instruction faithfully...Godbless!

Xm2go stuck at preview channel 1. if other channels are selected it bounces back to channel 1.

I had a what sounds like the same problem. More than likely you need to "reset"(our account with XM Radio. (Your radio have stop communication with xm except for channel 1) You can call XM or go to XM'S website. If you have not setup your account for internet usage you will have to do so before you can manage (reset) your radio. Once you reset your radio it may take up to 1 hour before it works. My radio took about 15 min. Good luck
