To remove write protection:

Open Start Menu >> Run, type regedit and press Enter. This will open the registry editor.
Navigate to the following path:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\StorageDevicePolicies

Double click the key WriteProtect in the right pane and set the value to 0
In the Data Value Box, press OK
Exit Registry, restart your computer and then re-connect your USB pen drive to your computer.

USB flash drive write protection

Most USB drives don't have a Write Protection switch, but if yours does, then move the slider.

If it doesn't have a switch, the only way to use the drive is to format the drive. First, note the drive letter, such as E, F G for your drive. *** BE CAREFUL *** This will remove all files. Go to Windows Explorer, note the drive letter , Right-click and select Format. Again, BE CAREFUL not to format any other drive, just your removable USB drive.

Hope this helps.

My usb drive is write protected i cant format it pls help....

Have you tried doing it from another PC? If the same problem persists, look closely at your drive and check for a tiny switch that has a lock label on it- it maybe switched to the lock position. Most USB drives has this switch for write protection.

Unable to format the cruser pendrive

Far too often these little things have an almost invisible read/write protect button on them. Look carefully, over the entire surface of the USB Flash Drive. You might have this switch turned to Write Protect, which means there is nothing you can do, until you turn it the other way, and allow the device to be written to.

Cheers!
