it has a microphone , u must install proper driver from hp. and right click the little speaker icon ; click recording devices and make sure it is set as default and turn up the gain.
Please check the dc voltage of the Adapter. if dc voltage is OK then remove the battery and power on laptop with AC Adapater without battery. Check the laptop booting properly or not.

Go to Control Panel and Click on Sounds, Click
on Audio, then Click on the Microphone. Then Click on the drop
down and select Camera Microphone.
Click OK and it should work.

You need to clarify whether microphone or its connection bad or system causing the problem. I suggest you to try with external bluetooth or normal headset. If sound microphone works with headset you need to have microphone connection be fixed
