Need to know how i update the maps card for it

The latest version of Garmin Express provides the ability to install a map update directly to an SD card.
The SD card installation option will only appear when updating a compatible device that does not have sufficient internal memory for the largest allowable map region. When using the SD card installation option, critical files are loaded to the SD card so it must remain in the device after the update to ensure full functionality. For the largest size SD card a device can use, refer to: What is the largest size Secure Digital (SD) card that an automotive device can accept?
The SD card support during the map update will only function with up-to-date software. It may be necessary to update the device's software with Garmin Express prior to updating the maps. These devices do not support the SD card option:
  • Nissan 700
  • nuvi 295
  • nuvi 300 series
  • nuvi 500 series
  • nuvi 600 series
  • nuvi 800 series
  • nuvi 805 series
  • nuvi 5000
  • StreetPilot series
  • zumo 450
  • zumo 550
  • zumo 665
For devices that do not support using the SD card with the map update application, any maps that do not fit in the internal memory can be installed to the SD card manually, using these instructions:

No maps found

When your tom tom comes up with the no maps found error message. There are several causes to the problem.
If you updated your map using the latest map guarantee and then get the error No maps found, make sure you install the latest version of the TomTom application.
Check for the latest application: Connect your navigation device or memory card to your computer and click Update my device in TomTom HOME to check if a new application is available.
You can check the version of your application in TomTom HOME. Connect your device and then click Manage my device and select the Items on my device tab. Expand Applications and then click More info.
Your map may require the latest version of the TomTom application.
Check for the latest application Connect your navigation device or memory card to your computer and click Update my device in TomTom HOME to check if a new application is available.
HOME may not immediately offer the latest application version when installing a downloadable map on a blank memory card. Re-connect your memory card to HOME and check for the latest application by clicking Update my device in HOME. HOME this time offers the latest application for your device. Try Installing maps on a new memory card
You can check the version of your application in TomTom HOME. Connect your device and then click Manage my device and select the Items on my device tab. Expand Applications and then click More info.
You need to also make sure all files are in the right places. Browse the content of your navigation device:
Windows XP: Click Start > My Computer and then double-click the removable drive of your device.
Windows 7 / Windows Vista: Click the Windows start button > Computer and then double-click the removable drive of your device.
Mac OS X: Double-click the desktop icon of your navigation device.
Check the following:
The map folder (e.g. Western_Europe) needs to be located in the root directory of your navigation device or memory card. This means the map folder may not be inside another folder. Before you move the map folder we recommend that you create a manual backup.
The map folder needs to contain at least the following files
cline.dat cname.dat cnode.dat faces.dat mapinfo.dat poi.dat tables.dat tmccodes.dat traffic.dat .meta (map v705 or higher will have/need this file) .meta.dct (map v705 or higher will have/need this file) .pna
If any of these files are missing restore a previously made backup or re-install your map to your device (in TomTom HOME click Add Traffic, Voices, Safety Cameras etc. > Items on my computer).
Hpe this was helpful. Thanks for using fixya.

I have no maps on the screen its like i lost all the data. it says there are no roads near this start point. every thing else works mp3, settings, volume, bluetooth, etc.

it sounds like you may have just deselected the maps.

go to tools settings map then map info(bottom of the screen)

check that there is a tick next to your mapset if not just tap the name of the map and you should be sorted out.

Want to update maps

Yes, you will need to download the webupdater program from Garmin to get new maps for your Nuvi 200. Transfer the files to your SD memory card and then plug that SD card into your Nuvi 200. Click on the link below to get started

I am going to NZ for 10 days and would like some up to date maps for my F10 Navman, How do I download them on the cheap; and Will I lose the current australian maps that I have loaded

I don't know if there's a cheap way to download maps, but your original maps should not 'disappear' in the update as long as you have enough memory in your unit.

Safer way to do this is to load the additional maps on memory card and use that (I take it that you're not taking the trip every week or so, so the maps don't need to be constantly in the device. On the other hand, you can keep the card in to keep the slot from getting dirty.)

Gps

maybe its telling the truth!

Did you try installing a new update or a pirate map recently, or did this just happen?
many GPS state they can hold music and photos, ALWAYS use a separate card for this as numerous times maps become damaged by people writing music and pics to the card or memory. Maps get overwritten. Use the CD that came with your unit to reinstall maps

My Garmin gps is frozen on a screen telling me there are no maps found. I tried to reset it and put a memory card in it but nothing worked so far. Any ideas?

You're missing the file gmapprom.img on your C510 unit (possibly a failed update?).

Unless you have a backup it's contact Garmin I expect (maybe try getting a copy off someone but possible the file is locked to the unit as I have tried swapping SD cards containing maps in the past between units and no joy)..

I am trying to load the 2008 map update to my c330 unit but nothing happens. I get a no active connection error when using the dvd and from mapsouce I get a no memory error when it is supposed to save over...

First, some questions:

A. Is the unit turned on and plugged in via the USB?
B. Is the USB connection active?
C. Have you downloaded the USB drivers to the machine you are using?

You can only load one region on the C330. It will not hold the entire update. That is why you are having problems loading it via Mapsource. There is a way to load the second region onto and SD card for use, though.
