Canon mx 882 printer looses wifi connection

My printer loses wifi connection every few days. I get the error message when I go to print that I must first install a printer. I look and sure enough the printer is not installed. Sometimes when I shut off the whole computer and power it back up,, the printer re-connects. Why is this happening and what can I do to fix this ?

Follow The Steps To Fix Canon Printer Not Connecting To Wifi Error:
Solution 1 - Check Internet
Check your network connectivity first, sometimes the internet connectivity is low which cause network issue.

Solution 2 - Remove Barriers
If there is any barriers between your device and router then remove them right now!

Solution 3 - Disconnect Other Devices
Don't put the printer with the Wifi router to make a suited distance. It's not only the barriers but also if the network you are using is connected with other appliances too then it may also create network problem to you.

Solution 4 - Reboot Your Device
Now, you do not have to do anything, just restart your device and check whether the error is solved or not.

I hope these steps help you a lot in fixing the canon printer won't connect to wifi.

It could be that your printer or your router is losing the ip address. You can set a permanent IP address in the machine on the same range as your router. eg 192.168.x.50.
This means the router will always find it and you can also set the address in printer port settings on your computer in the control panel.

Canon pixma 882

bad cartridges or you set it not to remind you of ink running low
If so maybe try to remove the head and let it cap.
Unplug it for 30 minutes and re-install head etc.

Can't connect wirelessly from inspiron 1720 to canon pixma mx 882

Hello Kamar,

Is your 1720 hard wired to your router? if so, you may not have the WiFi switched on on the PC. Do you have 5 vertical bars in the bottom right hand corner of the screen? If not, you need to switch the WiFi on with the switch at the front of the left hand side panel. o
Once WiFi is active, make sure the printer is on and in WiFi setup then install the printer software on the 1720 and follow the instructions.
I hope this cures the problem.

Kind regards,
Ron.

My Canon MG6120, which worked on wifi fine for months, now doesn't. It still works with USB connection, but that's not the point of a wifi printer! How can I fix this?

First check with another device that your wifi is working if it is try resetting up wifi on your printer.

If someone changed your wifi password you will need to enter the new password.

Just in case you need the link here it is again:

If you need to right click it and run the file as administrator. If that doesn't work i would try running your computer in safe mode and installing the drivers for the printer.
thank you,

Hello Jra,

By resetting the printer's power, the print buffer is cleared and certain sensors are reset. If there is invalid data in the buffer, or sensors are stuck in a particular mode; errors may occur. Follow these steps to reset the printer:
  1. Turn the printer off with the Power button (if available).

  2. Disconnect the data cable from the printer (not applicable to WiFi, Bluetooth or Infrared) .

  3. Unplug the printer's power cord for approximately 10 minutes, and then plug it back in. If troubleshooting a communication issue, reconnect the data cable (not applicable to WiFi, Bluetooth or Infrared).

  4. Turn the printer back on.
