My dimension 4600c wont always read discs

I have a dimension 4600c that I purchased in 2004. A few months ago my comp stopped reading discs. I thought it was a permanent problem until I tried it again about a month later and it actually read the disc I put in. All the discs I have tried are original cd's, none were burnt. Yesterday I put in one of my Kodak discs that target put pictures on for me and I was able to view the pictures and work with them. Today it doesn't even recognize the disc is there.

Sounds as though you need a new CD drive, the optics in your drive are not working correctly.

CD drives are available for cheap at any computer store or consumer electronics store.

very easy to replace, 4 screws hold it in, and plug in the cables to the new drive from the old one. please dont forget to rate!

Cd player reads error then rejects cd

The laser is unable to read the information on the disc, could be due to fingerprints or smudges on the disc.
1 Clean the disc with isophropyl alcohol which is available from
chemists or supermarkets. Get a spray one if available, if not apply liberally to a cleaning cloth and clean the disc from center outwards in a straight line. (not in circles). NB Always check the ingredients you want 100% if you can but if not the higher the better.
2 You can purchase a cleaning disc kit from most music stores because the laser focusing eye may need cleaning as well. Good to do this every few months anyway.
3 The laser may be faulty and replacement may be required or purchase a new player.

Samsung htz510 wont read dvd or cd? It just says loading for ever and then says error???

I have the same issue, along with a Rear Check issue at power up, and the fan stopped working about a month ago, so three strikes and your out, I would not recommend this product due to the quality. My Oniko was purchased years ago and is still going strong, I moved to an apartment and wanted the wireless ease with the back speakers, never again with this brand. My Samsung LCD is acting up now too, it is only 15 months old, and won't power up right away takes like 5 attempts, unreal
