Replaced the battery on my forerunner 50 watch

Just got off the phone with Jason at Garmin tech support. Very helpful. Walked me through the steps to replace the battery. Basic steps are 1. get the 4 screws off 2. With a tiny screw driver lift up the pry bar holding the battery in place. The white adhesive tab will come off with it. 3. save the transparent plastic sheet and note the stenciled cut outs (required to prevent contact) 4. remove the old battery 5. drop in the new. 6. out the transparent plastic sheet aligning the cut outs carefully. 7. place the pry bar back on and nudge it back into the ends. 8. Place the white strip adhesive back on to hold the pry bar in place. 9. put the back cover on making sure to align the little notch on one end with the notch in the base of the watch. 10. put the 4 screws back on. 11. You should have the watch functioning again. Was not so difficult - if I could do it with my presbyopia i'm sure anyone can do it.

BTW, the watch had lots of problems pairing up with the HRM after replacement. Jason helped me out with this too. Need to desensitise the HRM by 1. remove the HRM battery 2. flip the battery backwards and close the battery compartment for a minute 3. Reopen the battery compartment and put the battery in with the "Lithium" sign facing up. 4. Close the battery compartment. 5. Pair it now with the watch. Hope this helps!

SOURCE: Can`t pair Garmin Forerunner 50 with footpod

Hi,

I've been having the same problem. I couldn't pair my footpod, but my heart rate monitor was working. I've only had the 50 for about eight weeks.

I reset the watch, holding view mode and Start/Stop at the same time.
This didn't do any good.

I swapped the battery in the HRM with that in the foot pod. The foot pod synched the HRM didn't.

Solution duff battery. I'd change yours it will probably do the trick.

Hope it helps

My watch to my garmin forerunner 50 started bleeping last week and then it went blank (the watch), changed the battery twice but still not working. can you help?

I have read the instructions for your watch and I found nothing in there that was helpful.

I am having a guess here but perhaps the memory is full (did you see the "Lo mem" warning?

Try downloading the memory to your computer if you can with a blank screen!

As a last resort, go to theri web site and find the "contact us " phone number and ask the maker.

I have only had my carmin forerunner 50 for 4 months and the battery on the watch is saying lo! what battery do I need to replace it?

Take your watch to your nearest watch shop and ask them to do it for you.

You can get into difficulty replacing batteries and it is not worth the risk for the small cost saving.

Battery Life: I have had my Garmin Forerunner 50 for only 3 months and the 2nd battery is already dead. Normal?

There is a fault with Forerunner 50's - I replaced my battery three weeks ago, after three months of average use. It posted the "LoBatt" sign again the following day. Garmin offered to replace it with an overhauled product but I've gone for a refund instead.
