I am struggling with my dvd 5.1 home theater system. Everything works EXCEPT the dvd.. I can see the blue dvd symbol but it can't "read" the dvd. an rf modulator used to work for this prior to Tivo. No I have a pretty nice plasma hoping the updated tech would solve the prob...yeah, no! I feel as though I have tried everywhich way, but apparently I have not. My 5.1, the direct tv box, the super surge protector and the tv...I have adopted the cable jungle. Any tips?

Karri, I do not have the photo of the back, but attached is a general wiring diagram for any Audio-video Home theater system. If you have a Home Theater Receiver, then hook it up as the diagram. If not, hook it up per the comments in the diagram. This is how I hooked up my ONKYO HT system with my SONY Combo DVD recorder and my Mitsubishi TV. One thing to note on Combos, is that the VCR Tape section will not play through the High Definition connections (HDMI, and Digital Audio). You have to use the older method of Audio-Video (AV) cables or the Co-axial antenna cables. You can ask more questions if there is any confusions. Hope this helps you. Good luck.

SOURCE: pioneer receiver vsx-d510 sub not working

Rear Surrounds are not supported on this unit, they would be the 6th and 7th channels in a 7.1 rig. I think you mean Surrounds (channels 4 and 5 in a 5.1 rig).

Lets ponder: How is there any relationship between Surrounds and your separately-amplified Subwoofer? I don't see it, unless you inadvertently chose OFF for the Sub definition when you were in the Speaker selection menus adding the Surrounds. Look again.

Sub hook up to Receiver

If the Pioneer has only one sub output connect it via a single RCA to the mono one. If it has two outputs (L&R) connect it to the L&R on the sub via a dual lead.
The other connections on the sub are for those amps without a dedicated sub output.

Can't get it to power up

If there is an input power fuse for your 120 volts a.c. I would remove it and check it. Make sure the cap seats correctly. If it is a new house to you please verify there is power coming out of the exact outlet you are using. Use a lamp or appliance you know works. If your "test" appliance works you may have bad amp or damaged in moving. If it, "tester"does not work you are not getting power to that outlet - check for a wall switch you may have overlooked or fuses/circuit breakers.

Recently purchased this reciever, and in reading the manual, I cannot tell if it will work if I hook my Comcast HDMI to one of the HDMI inputs (Input 2)? In general, i will be only hooking up the Cable box...

It should work fine. The Pioneer VSX 1019 AH-K has been made so that it can accept 4 HDMI inputs (of which 3 are assignable, and 1 is for the BD player)
If you still have a problem, you can resort to the Official Thread on the Pioneer VSX 1019 AH-K on avsforum. A lot of helpful guys out there, and a very active thread.

Amatuer needs sub-woofer advice for Pioneer VSX-454...

Based upon your description, the subwoofer is just a speaker and is taken from the normal speaker outputs. Run your A channel to the sub and then from the sub to the left and right front speakers. That should do it.
