I started the program with no issues, then halfway through the first core of Italian level one, the program says it encountered a small problem then my microphone fails to work. When I try to recalibrate the software doesn't even recognize its existence nor the built-in microphone in my laptop (Mac G3 pismo).

Webcam Audio Getting sound to broadcast with streaming video using a webcam requires a few components to work in unison. Because most webcams do not have a microphone built in, you will need to buy a microphone for your computer or locate your microphone input if you have one built in (some laptops have these). The audio and video are two separate functions and must be diagnosed as such. b> Webcam Software b> If you have a webcam set up correctly and you are streaming video, then you are already halfway there. This details only how to make the sound work, so please refer to an article related to webcam video if you do not have that working already. The webcam audio and video both communicate with your computer via your webcam's software application. Due to this, you will find that there are settings specific to your webcam software for sound. Because there are various software applications that can act as an interface for your webcam, you will want to do a product-specific search on the Internet for your application's settings. Most often you will find the settings for sounds under Tools or Settings, then choosing Options or Preferences. Regardless of the application that you are using to broadcast your webcam video, you will need to ensure that your microphone is plugged into the "Microphone In" jack on your computer or laptop. The microphone input jack is commonly colored pink. b> Microphone Connection b> With your microphone plugged into the "Microphone In" audio jack, test the audio inside your webcam's software application. Most webcam applications allow you test your microphone by reading a sentence and watching a graph move as you speak. If you see this happening, then you have correctly hooked up your microphone. If you have a Windows PC you should also see if your computer recognizes your microphone by clicking on "Start" > "Settings" > "Control Panel" > "Sounds and Audio Devices." Under the "Audio" tab you will find a section for "Sound Recording." From there you can select or change your "Default Device." b> Hardware Troubleshooting b> In the event that your microphone is not recognized by your computer, continue hardware troubleshooting by contacting your computer's support staff. With a properly connected microphone and some minor adjustments in your webcam's software application, you should be broadcasting audio with your video in no time. Hope this helps.

Firstly all lines have to be timed. Then they will scroll. Other issue is the microphone is 16 Bit and we use mostly 32 and 64 bit file names as well as allowed characters within a page. 16 bit dos is limited characters specially comma or ( ) [ ] } : # $ so on will not work with this mic. Convert what doesn't work with FileEncConverter (available on web) and they will work. This program removes what mic can't handle.. Good luck
go to the web page for the manufacturer of the microphone
find a down load for that model suitable for mac operating system and down load the driver or software
Page fault is a core level issue, Really it is time to consider hardware and OS upgrades. Windows 98 support in 2006, because the issues were redsigned in newer OS. and now you are about 4 upgrades behind.
Look at the error logs in Windows and I presume that you will see tons of issues. UPGRADE.
Turn all your levels down.. ALL of Them. does that help? if the noise stops, proceed to slowly turn each volume up some one at a time. that may help figure what is causing the problem. if not could be small programming issue between the mic and the input program. i would look threw your settings menu for the recording software. see if there are any input or recording preferences/settings. i don't know if the mic came with setup software or a manual. may help alot. probably just one little setting off. learning will only help in the long run
I solved by going to Control Panel, Sound, Recording, then click on your mic and click on Configure, and then Set up microphone... Thats probably going to fix your problem... That easy... xD

Make sure that your device is set as your default device by making sure that there is a green check mark next to the device. If not, right click and select "set as default device" (or something like that... I have vista and not win7)
If that does not work, right click on the headphones and go to "Properties" then go and under the "General" tab, change the name of the device to "Microphone HS" For some reason, Rosetta Stone does not recognize the headset unless it has the word "Microphone" in its name... Kinda stupid if you ask me. Hope that helps...
Rt. click the volume control icon from your notification area or the control panel and choose advance settings and make sure the microphone line in level is not at zero. Open your recording program (like sound recorder from Accessories>Entertainment) and you should be able to record sound input from your microphone. If you're still having trouble, follow the steps here or here (http://www.logicaltips.com/LPMArticle.asp?ID=610) Also be aware that there's a great freeware recorder available online called Audacity available from here
I hope this information allows you to resolve this issue. If you need further assistance, please post back with a comment to this thread. If I've managed to answer your question or solve a problem, please take just a moment to rate this post....thanks!
