My VGN FS920 shuts down at the windows XP load screen.
When i start my laptop it gets as far as the screen that says Windows XP and then the laptop shuts down.....
any ideas?
Ok no need to get a bcakup disk or downlaod anything
if ur hard drive is original factory fitted
and
ur laptop came with pre loaded OS as XP
then do this without disk

is ur Hardrive Original factory fitted one that shud have Os files in a safe partition and this procedure of F10 shud work to restore the OS if it doesnt u have to try it like 4 or 5 times as directed press F10 key Before the VIAO screen try it if it doesnt help after careful retries then u have to get a bcakup disk from the SONY u have to order it online

I do not have the backup disk. The cpu was given to me with nothing but the power cable.
i'm trying to dl a boot disk to see if i can fix or format the HDD
I have tried the F10, as well as F2 and it does not load into BIOS or safe mode, it just keeps going to the windows load screen and then the power shuts off.
Yes it is the factory HDD, i will give it a try a few times before the vaio screen
OS corrupted u have to re install OS again from the backup disk first try to repair if not helpiung then re install fresh
