Thank you for the update. The retrofit kit will probably not only fix your leak but also dry your dishes much better.
I hope the info I provided was useful. Can you take a moment to rate my level of helpfulness?
gmjm2009,
Make certain that the water is coming from the port on the door panel and not through the door gasket, from within the wash tub.
Have proof of purchase, your model number, your serial number and contact LG directly at the support number in the User manual.
Describe to them your problem and emphisize how poorly it dries, not just plastic items, but everything. This retrofit kit / redesign of the condensing drying system was designed to solve both problems. It applies to certain model number / serial number models in the LDFxxxx series.

If you get poor response to the phone supprt agent after politely but firmly describing your problem, say "I request that you escalate my call to your manager" Be firm, be persistent, be predictable.

I fixed my LG dishwasher door leak by replacing the LG door gasket with a GE door gasket. The GE door gasket mounts the same way as the LG, and the GE gasket is thicker and softer. Go down to the local store and look at a new GE dishwasher and you can verify what I saw. It took some patience to install the GE gasket, and I gently used a flat blade screwdriver to help with the corners. Start at the middle top and work toward the bottom. Cost me $35.
I confirmed the gasket seal was the problem as you can see seepage from the door edges, and also the dishwashing detergent leaves a white residue where it leaks. I purchased a gasket for GE model GDWT160R, and I am happy with the result. I had earlier purchased a new LG gasket and reinstalled several times with leaks each time. This solution saved me from buying a new dishwasher. $35 is much better than $600 or more. My results don't guarantee anything, so it's your decision alone. This worked for me.

LG LDF8812 dishwasher is leaking from front door, lower left side - looks like there is a retrofit kit? How do I get?
Just called LG Service about this retrofit kit, and they're giving me the runaround--I have to hire a technician to make a report and then a supervisor will assess whether or not I get the kit, and the technician, naturally, is at my expense. This is because my model is 3 years, 5 months old. Am I entitled to a free assessment? Can I get the kit without it?
Did you get your problem solved? Please post back here, OK?
Did you get the problem solved? Or could you use an assist?
Is your LG LDF8812 dishwasher working properly now? Of not please answer as many questions from above as you can and I an sure I can help you.
Thanks!
-Please send your serial number for the LG LDF8812 dishwasher.
-Do you have proof of purchase available? How old is this dishwasher? (approximatly)
-Look carefully at the leak when it is happening. Is it dripping from the door panel or farther in to where the door and the cabinet meet. Either option IS possible.
-Look carefully at the gasket around the opened cabinet to see if there is any damage to black gasket that runs around the cabinet where the door meets it when closed.
-None of these questions are intended to be solutions, please reply and we will get this problem solved. Sending the serial number is very important due to a possible retrofit solution.
Thanks for a reply.
With our "LG LDF8812ST": We had the upgrade kit installed, shortly after we bought the unit, about 5 years ago. Recently the unit has started leaking from the door again.
We are not sure, but it seems like the leak happens when we run the unit several times in quick succession.
The leak seems to come from the right-side of the door. Groping into the door with my fingers, it feels like there is a reservoir there.
Any suggestions?
