Usually when water is leaking from in between the manifold and the oil side of the pump, the high and low pressure seals (a.k.a. packings) are worn out.

How can i tell if my waterpump is bad? shut the car off and came out later to anti freeze in the driveway

If it's leaking that bad, open the hood take off radiator cap and fill with water (without making a mess and spilling a bunch. Then simply watch for where the leak is at, if it's leaking from a hose, the radiator, or from around the area where the belt is located on the passenger side of the engine compartment. If it's leaking from the passenger side around the belt area your water pump is the most common cause. They are made so when the bearing wears out around the shaft the pulley bolts, it has what are called weep holes and the water just runs out to tell you to replace the water pump.

I have a water leak. the hoses all seem good as does the "weep hole" on the water pump. The oil and trans fluid look normal and the car runs fine. The only thing I see is below the alternator...

Not all water pumps leak from the weep hole, if the water pump casket becomes worn then it will leak from behind the water pump. You can also have a leak coming from the thermastat housing. To find out exactly have a pressure test performed on your car.

CHECK AROUND WATER PUMP AREA.AND THERMOSTAT HOUSING FOR LEAKS.THE MECHANIC WHO PUT THE WATER PUMP ON MAY FORGOT TO PUT SEALANT ON BOTH SIDES OF THE WATER PUMP GASKET CAUSING LEAKS.LOOK AROUND THERMOSTAT HOUSING FOR LEAKING.IF THERMOSTAT SEAL WAS DAMAGE DURING INSTALLATION IT WILL CAUSE LEAKING.IF ALL LOOKS GOOD CHECK FOR COOLANT LEAKS AROUND RADIATOR .CHECK RADIATOR TOP AND BOTTOM HOSES FOR LEAKS AND CHECK HEATER PIPES AND HEATER CORES HOSES FOR LEAKS.IF ALL HOSES GOOD.CHECK FOR LEAKING CORE PLUGS.

Washer leaks water

If you have an access panel--either front or rear, open it and watch for the leak while the machine is running. Look for a defective water pump, filter case, or hose to the pump from the tub, or the outlet hose that runs out to the house drain. In older washers, sometimes the outer tub will rust through causing a leak (which can be fixed by cleaning away all rust, and applying epoxy cement to the area). Good luck!

Water valve not working and leak under dishwasher

The water leaking causes the float switch to activate the drain pump and as long as there is water in the pump housing area that is the only thing that will run.

Remove the water from below the unit and it should run long enough to trace the leak.

The easiest way to access this is to uninstall the unit and remove the lower back panel. remove the water wih a shopvac

remember to shut the power off.

You probably have a leak, in the pump housing area below the unit, which is causing the drain pump to run continuously.
