Display and volume not working - M-Audio US85100 Keyboard

i am having the same issue, volume shoots down to zero for no reason and I can only use the digital display to increase the volume, the actuall volume controls do not work. can anybody help with this

Check wiring maybe some of wires have worked loose.

If you can get at the controls again----undo or unsolder the micro switch for volume down! Remove it and see if set works.

A no brainer in that if that switch is bad and vol down still displays nothing else would work

Is it Possible you have turned off the volume?
Here is how to check the volume setting:

From the Main Menu screen, tap Preferences.

The Preferences screen will display.

2. From the Preferences screen, tap More Preferences.

The second Preferences screen will display.

3. On the second Preferences screen, tap Hardware.

The Hardware screen will display.

4. From the Hardware screen, tap Volume.
The Volume screen will display.

5. To increase volume, move the Volume Level slider towards High; to decrease volume,

move the Volume Level slider towards Low.

• Tap Test to test the volume.

6. Tap Save.
The Main Menu screen will display.

Sounds like your friend burned out the power amplifier. That would be the only reason none of the channels work. Unless the unit was muted by accident and no one checked the mute function - though I doubt that.

you should have it repaired.the audio circuit is malfunctioning because of the sudden burst/surge of current.

Have you installed all the features which it has come with. Although it must show it if you have installed multimedia package to full install. It is just the small feature, which comes with the software CD.

it sounds like your laptop drivers aren't working properly.. possibly the program dealing with your sound volume is corrupted or missing.

I'd try reinstalling your keyboard/touchpad drivers. what is the make and model # of your laptop?
