How do you easily get a bolt into a rusted thread?

I am trying to attach my bike rack to the trailer hitch. The bolt that attaches the bike rack is slightly rusted. The threaded hole that the bolt goes into is also slightly rusted. The bolt will go in and it gets increasingly tougher to tighten the bolt. Half way to completely screwing in the bolt, it becomes too difficult to tighten it anymore. How do I get it to tighten all the way?

A brief Google search indicates that trailer hitches may have either a fine or coarse thread, and perhaps either metric or standard threading. Being able to get a bolt only part way into a threaded hole often means the threads don't match. I would recommend you visit a retailer that sells or rents trailers and hitches for assistance if you are still having difficulty, and absolutely do not force things.

Take the bolt out and clean it with a wire brush if you have one. Give it a good scrub, then lubricate the bolt. Best thing would be a thick type of grease, but if you don't have that, put some oil on the thread. If you don't have that, WD40 but it won't stay there for long.

Where can i buy a cozy cruiser bike attachment?

Any local bike store can help you. You can also try buying one off the internet, ebay or amazon are your best choices. Make sure you get the right one that connects properly to the back of your bike.

The car which carried the transit transporter has been written off in an accident - is it possible to get another female attachment bracket for another car?

the 'female' attachment bracket seems to be either a 1.5" or 2" standard receiver hitch. which you can have installed at most auto or trailer rental shops, such as UHaul... note that you will need the adapter that came with your bike rack to use the 2" receiver hitch

Will my class 1 hitch support a hitch mounted bike rack and bikes?

perhaps. It is always best to check with the manufacturer of the bike rack you will be using. Some manufacturers do not recommend the use of their racks with class 1 hitches. Those that have bike racks to work with class 1 hitches typically have very specific weights, specifications, and may even limit the number of bikes allowable. Just remember, when calculating the weight of your load don't forget to add in the weight of the bike rack itself. B&W Trailer hitches are great for this job.

I just bought an InStep® Joyrider Bicycle Trailer and the photo's are not very good. When attached is the bike trailer hitch supposed to attach perpedicular to the bike and the spring bends to 90 deg....

The hitch part that fastens to your bike rear axle has 3 pieces, a dimpled washer which goes on first then the hitch plate and a pin that holds the trailer to the hitch. Take off the axle nut (15 mm wrench) install the dimpled washer it goes on with the 90 deg tang facing the bike wheel and in the channel so it can't rotate. Then put the hitch plate on, mine faced down for the correct height, line up the dimpled washer with the bumps on the hitch plate to locate it properly. reinstall the wheel nut and be sure to align the wheel so it runs straight and true (I oopsed on this the first time) then attach the trailer, it is a 90 deg hook-up then you simply put the the pin in and you are good to go. The unique hook-up makes it so smooth and dampened that you don't even know it's behind you. We really love ours!

Tap with a hammer - a little WD-40 or Liquid Wrench - tap some more.

Good luck with this "sticky" problem.
