Have LG model LMVM2277ST. installed above oven. the fan will go on by itself and I have to open door to get it to stop. Pushing buttons do nothing. this happens when NO cooking is going on inn microwave or on stove. It just goes on randomly.

What you said about the the clock leads me to suggest that you first unplug it for a few minutes then plug it back in. It may just need a good reset. If you don't have your owner's manual you can download one here: http://www.lge.com/support/manual.jsp The mention of odor concerns me. It may just be a bit of food or grease on the waveguide cover, which is a small sheet or panel on the wall or ceiling of the cooking cavity, but it may indicate the failure of a part in the high voltage section. You may have an intermittent door switch. You can see some of my other responses for info on how to get our important text file that helps you diagnose and repair door switches and gives important safety tips.

It's usually a bad door switch or a broken door switch mount. Once in a while it's due to a board problem. If you or a friend decide to work on it, we have *critical* safety, disassembly, and troubleshooting info (as well as a text file which helps in diagnosing and repairing door switch problems) at our site, which is linked at our listing here on FixYa: http://tinyurl.com/yzjozk

E-02 on the LED display.
That usually indicates a keyboard error...not a good thing...take it back and get a new one.

Same issue here. LMVM1935 about 2 months past warranty keypad stopped working. Apparently they need to add something in the manual about not boiling water on the range over which the microwave is installed (gee who would have thought that there would be steam over the cooktop and we should seal the membrane?).
The silver traces on the keypad got corroded and no longer conduct. After complaining to Sears (NO HELP) and LG (EVEN MORE INEPT) and running on 30sec button for about 6 months, I found a replacement keypad $30 w/ shipping and didn't break anything taking the door apart, thanks to the parts list link above. Thanks Rickzilla!
Life's Good, Their Keypad SUCKS, or apparently we are the only people that boil water anymore.

Normally
you have to separate the door panels (as shown in the attached photo)
and then you'll see the screws you need to remove.
Or you can watch a YouTube video (not a video I made) here that demonstrates how it's done.
