Check to see if there is audio from the headphone jack. These unit have a history of bad headphone jacks that cause the unit to think there are headphones plugged in even when there isn't. Sometimes plugging phones in and taking them out will fix the problem for a while.

Check your blu-ray connection. Is the HDMI cable going from the player to the receiver, then another HDMI cable going from the receiver to the television? What about your TV input? Is there a cable going from the cable converter box to the receiver's input?

SOURCE: No audio from PS3.

If you are hooking your PS3 through HDMI, there will be no sound since the Denon does not support sound through HDMI. I am using a Fiber Optic cable for my sound.

Then go into your Sound Settings in your PS3 and select what sound source you are using.

IT IS ALWAYS BEST TO CONNECT ANALOG AUDIO IN ADDITION TO THE OPTICAL, COAXIAL OR HDMI AUDIO CONNECTION. IF USING OPTICAL OR COAXIAL CONNECTIONS BE SURE TO CONFIGURE IT IN THE RECEIVERS DIGITAL ASSIGNMENT AREA IN SETUP.
ALSO, ON THE FRONT OF THE RECEIVER IS AN INPUT MODE BUTTON, PRESS THIS BUTTON UNTIL AUTO IS DISPLAYED

Denon avr-486 in tuner mode will find station but no sound but works fine with cd player and ipod.

If it doesn't light the 'stereo' and 'tuned' indicators it will be muted unless you select 'manual' tuning.

No video on Denon avr 688

After days of frustration the real problem was with the cable box. It needed a firmware update. Following forum advice I disconnected the cable box power cord for a few minutes, reconnected it, allowed the cable box to reinitialize. Turned off receiver and TV. Turned TV back on and set it to HDMI connection, turned on receiver and all worked fine. Great picture and sound.( Needed to buy an optical cable to go from the cable box to the receiver to get sound from the speaker system. )--the dirtybird
