Dell inspiron E1505 won't charge or power on period!!!

I recently replaced my dell charge after my dog chewed through the power cord. I had just bought a new battery and it worked fine. The old charger used to charge my battery and run the laptop perfectly then it stopped working. (Part of the reason why I got a new one) I keep the charger plugged in but it will not charge the battery or power on my laptop. I am at a loss as to what I can do to make my laptop work again. Please help!!!

Sounds like you might have a bad dc power jack. ifyou wiggle the jack around where it plugs in on the computer, does the powr light come on?

Battery will not charge. The battery is new, verified on another laptop and it works fine (takes a charge). Unit works fine when connected directly to AC. The laptop is a Dell inspiron E1505. How do I...

This isn't easily done. Have you recently replaced your power adapter for any reason. I've found that some laptop batteries won't charge if the charger is just slightly different from the original one, even if it's another Dell power adapter. If you haven't replaced the power adapter recently then it may be that your female power jack isn't properly seated or soldered into the motherboard. To reseat or resolder the jack with require you do completely dismantle your laptop. If you're not confident it doing this, then don't try it yourself. Also, resoldering the jack isn't as easy as it would seem either. Before doing any dismantling, remover your battery, turn on your computer and gently wriggle the adapter around in the female jack of the computer. Does your computer shut off on you? If so, then you definitely have power jack issues. See madhattercomputers.com

DELL LAPTOP INSPIRON 6400 MY LAPTOP BATTERY IS SHOWING STATUS ( UNKNOWN ) ON WINDOWS & ON BIOS IT SAYSS BATTERY NOT INSTALLED

Here are my recommendations for this issue:

1. Reseat the battery.
2. Remove All External Components
3. Check the battery connectors on the battery and the system. Examine the connector on the battery and the system. Make sure that there is no physical damage and that it is clear of debris.
4. Remove All External Components
5. Try a known-good battery in the system, if available.

Battery not charging

There is a "sensing" circuit that tells the system the wattage of the AC adapter. If that connection is damaged, the battery charger will not operate.

Most likely, you'll need new, 90 watt, ac adapter.

You shoujld be able to get a replacement for under $30

Power Trouble

Hi!

First, you need to check the one that you got for replacement is the correct adapter for your system. If it matches with the old one, make sure that the ac adapter light (LED) is on when you plug it the wall outlet only. When you plug it in the portable and if your ac adapter LED blinks out (turns off) then the motherboard needs to be replaced or else the ac adapter is not working and needs another replacement. Call Dell and have it replaced if you just bought it.

Hope this helps!
