Problem with a Lasko 3440 Floor/Box Fan.

I have a problem with a Lasko 3440 floor/box fan. There has been some dust buildup and recently, the blade has stopped spinning both freely and under power. If anyone has any recommendations on how to fix this, that would be appreciated.

How do I clean the dust off a Stanley floor fan?

Unplug it. Carefully take off the grill and use a vacuum and/ or a damp cloth to clean the blades etc. Do not soak with water. Just a DAMP cloth on the blades only!!!!

Need to clean and don't know how to take apart

The fan uses security fasteners to prevent dis-assembly. To clean the fan, disconnect power from fan and use compressed air to remove dust.

I just came from Trinidad and they use 110 volts and I'm now back in my island where they use 240 volts and not knowing too much about this stuff i plugged in my lasko fan using and adapter and the motor...

Unfortunately, probably not. The motor would only be designed to handle 110v, and it would burn up with 240v applied. You can take it apart and inspect it, hoping maybe for a bad switch, but chances are the motor is, as you say, blown. Sorry to have to relay the bad news.

How To Clean

On the back of the fan there are 6 recessed phillips head screws around the circumfrence of the fan. You must use a longer screwdriver as the screws are set in a couple of inches.

The two screws on the bottom are a little harder to see.

There are also two clips on the sides front cover. Squeeze on the sides gently to release these.

Fan seems to go and stop and then go again is this normal o

I have one of these. It sounds like you have it on breeze (the 3 wavy lines on the remote) Push that button, then push the run button(first button on the right bottom) for it to run normally. The circle with the blades in the middle(left button on bottom row) will turn the fan from low (1) to (3) high. The icons are the same on the remote and the fan itself. Hope this helps.
