All 4 ignators are spaking with the contrtols on off position on my GE JGP328 cook top

  • Anonymous Apr 11, 2009

For the GE JGP 328CEC2CC, I think it's the Switch Harness, GE Part #323. GE technician will come to your house and tell you that for a $80 diagnoistic fee. If he has the part, I guess two hours labor maybe $120, and the part around $40. The stove top has to be disconnected from the Gas and taken out. I think you're looking around $300 on this fix. In the mean time, buy a long handle Bic lighter, pull the electric plug, turn the lighter on first and Gas knob to Lite. Wallaa - It works! I don't think GE products are made to last more than five years.

It's the Switch Harness. Do not remove the stove and disconnect it from the gas. Turn the gas off under the stove. Take off the: knobs and the plate; burners; hxw screws. Pull burners out and disconnect igniter burners. Lift the top of the oven off. The Switch Harness is on the right, under where the knobs are located. Replace the Switch Harnes.

    P.S. Unplug the stove first.

GE Cooktop drop-in model # jgp328bec2bb - how to take apart the cooktop,I need to replace the spark ignitor switch harness.

Turn off the gas, unplug the power.
Take the cooktop out of the cutout and support it on the countertop.
Remove all grates and valve knobs.
Remove all screws from the valves and the burners.
Remove the burner base plates.
You may have screw on the side holding the top to the base,if so,remove these too.
The top will separate from the bottom exposing your parts.

GE Cooktop burner doesn't click or light.

Remove all the burner heads and lift the top. Sometimes easier said than done. How do you know it is the module? It could be a cracked insulator on the ignitor. To verify you can swap two of the connections on the module and if it lights then it is the module.

GE jgp328 front ignitors won't turn off. How do I remedy this?

Did you just clean it? If the swiches under the burner knobs get wet, they cause the electrodes to click. Unplug the unit or turn off the braker for a day. it should dry up and work normal.
