Air conditioners take the moisture out of the air. When the air passes through the coils on the evaporator, they are cold. This causes the air to condense and water to form on the coils. It then drips off into a pan. When the pan is full if it is not drained, you will have an overflow and things get wet. How much water the unit collects depends on how much humidity is in the air, how much air you are moving through the coils and the temp of the coils.

Kenmore 54351 Dehumidifier is leaking -- water isn't going into the tray, but seems to be leaking out into the floor.

Mine is doing the same thing. The bucket is dry and the floor is flooded, so it is not an inability to condense, and it is not that the bucket has overflowed, and the bucket does not have a leak. It had been working great and then this suddenly started happening, it's as if the water is not flowing along the proper route and instead is gathering behind the bucket.

My dehumidifier is only a couple months old and is leaking water all over the floor while collecting in the bucket too. Why and how can I fix it? - I will take it back under warranty but would rather just...

The leaking problem usually happens for 2 reasons,

1. If your unit is equipped with a float valve inside the top of the water collection bucket, it's stuck in
the UP position. Turn the unit OFF and unplug for the wall outlet. Remove and empty the bucket
if necessary. Look at the foam ball on the end of the float valve arm. If it's in the UP position
jiggle it, so that it returns to the DOWN Position. That should stop the wter from overflowing the
tank.

2. If the bucket is not installed properly into the bucket holder. Remove the bucket, empty the
bucket, if necessary and reinstall it. Be sure that the bucket fits "squarely" into the bucket
holder from top to bottom and that it does not tilt downward at the bottom.

It's also a good idea to check the pump switch for continual draining, to make sure it hasn't been accidentally turned ON.

Hope this helped you troubleshoot and solve the problem. Please let me know. Thanks.

Leaks water from back

this is not a water leak ! it is the humidity in the room which collects as water and drains out at the back.keep a bucket underneath or attach a drain pipe to the outlet .

Water is no longer collecting in bucket, but appears to leak out of humidifier. Humidifier also ices up.

Basically there is a drainage blockage from the humidifier to the bucket. Take one for the boys and **** hard on the pipe which very possibly will release the blockage.

Water leaks out of the bottom of the humidifier and the bucket does not fill up. The water just leaks out.

Based upon my experience with the same problem on my Kenmore 54701 last summer: The condensate water collects in a plastic pan below the coils. This pan has a single drain hole where the water flows down into the bucket. When I suddenly found water puddling on the floor instead of in the bucket, I opened up the unit, and I found that the collection pan's drain hole had become blocked by "bioslime". I cleaned out the goo from the drain hole, and the problem was solved.
