Have an HP touchsmart IQ770. desktop PC
I was working on the computer when the electricity went off and back on quickly. Now the keyboard and mouse as well as the front USB ports (back ones work) won't work. Also it doesn't recognize the DVD burner. The printer hooked into the back works. I have "reconnected" both the mouse and the keyboard--many times.
I hope someone can HELP!! Thanks.\
Your USB ports on your computer are plug and play. If you have issues with your USB port, it is port related, driver related or device related. The following solutions will help you identify the problem to resolve your USB port issues.
To Identify a Working USB Port
Begin troubleshooting your USB ports by checking Device Manager to see if your USB ports or hubs are working properly.
To Update the USB Port Driver
An out-of-date BIOS driver can create issues with your system recognizing the USB port.

It might sound like a daft question but is your PC plugged into a surge protector socket please.
And I assume you don't have another Keyboard or mouse to try.
