It has nothing to do with the green light. Green light simply indicates that brush roll is spinning. If there is no green light:
1 - belt may be broken
2 - Improperly installed nozzle
3 - wrong brush roll is installed

Properly adjust the nozzle - turn the Kirby on. Keep lowering the nozzle till it touched the carpet and you will hear change in sound. Then lower it by one more click.

My kirby shampooer is only spitting out a little foam

lower the shampooer head all the way to the bottom setting, or one click higher if the carpet is really thick. This will allow the solution to spread the entire width of the shampoo brush roller.

Green light on power nozzle of Kirby vacuum, Model G7D

The green light is just to inform you that the brushroll is spinning. there is a magnet on the brushroll that makes the green light come on every time it rotates. also why it looks like the light flickers because the magnet only makes contact once per rotation of your brushroll. Let me know if you have any other questions.

How do I put the belt on the Kirby the correct way in order for the green light to come on? The green light indicates that the Kirby will pick up.

The G4 has a magnetic block on one end of the brush. It must be aligned on the LED end of the brush housing. ..with adjustment screws facing out. When setting the housing back in place use the pedal to lift the carpet nozzle up off the work surface

What parts go to a Kirby Shampooer?

There is a shampooer head with shampooer brushroll, water tank, small hose that hooks to the tank, collection tray

Need to use the Kirby shampoo. It goes down as wet suds but you pick up the suds with the vacuum when it drys. Fill tank adding 1 cap full of soap (kirby soap only) per level on the side, this attaches on the side where the bag is attached

After using the shampooer you need to reattach the vacuum bag and main brushroll nozzle as though you were just vacuuming up dirt.

Instructions:

Lift the front of your kirby up (front part with light) open the handle on the dail in the front (if epquipt), remove the power head, put on height adjustment on highest level, turn dial on front of power head until you see 2 red arrows facing each other, unlock by turning knob, power head should come right off, get shampooer out the power head for shampooer with collection tray, make sure dial is set red on red, put on front of Kirby and lock in, turn dial to green on green arrows, fill tank adding 1 cap full of soap (Kirby soap only) per level on the side, this attaches on the side where the bag is attached, line up arrow and notch and turn, to hook up hose put Kirby down to lowest level, notched end of hose hooks in on tray other end on the tank,on/off switch refers to the foam, Turn machine on to lay the foam & scrub carpet, take shampooer back off to extract the foam once it's dry.

Good luck.

Cant rember how to replace the belt on the power head

1)First, you turn the square belt lifter on the front of the power nozzle until the red arrows line up (belt off of the Kirby's driveshaft but on the "hook" inside the power nozzle) 2)Remove the power head from the front of the machine. Now that it is off the Kirby, you can turn the square belt lifter until the green arrows line up. (Belt on, which means on the driveshaft on the front of the Kirby when the power nozzle is on the Kirby which makes the brushes spin. Now that the power nozzle is off of the Kirby, the belt isn't actually resting on anything but the green arrows will still point to belt ON ) This removes the belt from the "hook" so that it can be slipped off the brush roll. 3)Turn the power nozzle upside down and release the two clips that hold the metal baseplate on and remove the baseplate. 4)Grab the brushroll and pull it out of the power head. Slide the new belt onto the center of the brushroll. It will hang loose...it doesn't have to stretch around anything yet. MAKE SURE THAT THE BRUSHROLL SPINS FREELY!! If it doesn't, you'll burn all new belts quickly due to the added strain on the belt. 5)Look at the ends of the brushroll. The brushroll has three height settings..you should see notches AND NUMBERS on the sides of the brushroll's end caps. ONE notch (also #1) FACE UP on BOTH sides is the first setting and should be used when the roller is new. Three notches is the last setting used before a new roller is needed and should be used if the brushes are short and worn. Put the brushroll back in, making ABSOLUTELY SURE sure that the SAME NUMBER of notches and the same raised number on the edge are FACE UP on BOTH sides. This is important, as the brushroller will be unbalanced if inserted wrong. Also, one end cap of the brushroll is larger than the other and will only fit onto the larger notch in the power nozzle. 6)Replace the baseplate by fitting the front clips into place and then push it down in back and secure it with the two rear swivel clips. Make sure it fits securely down over the bumper on all sides with no suction leakage. 7)Turn the belt lifter to where the RED arrows line up, making sure that the inner "hook" grabs the belt and stretches it up while you are turning it. Once you have the belt stretched up, put the power nozzle back onto the Kirby and lock it in place. 8)NOW...turn the belt lifter back to GREEN. If the little green light on the power nozzle lights up when you turn it on, CONGRATULATIONS!!! The brushroll is spinning!!

Cant seem to get the green light going on vacuum head, hook seems to be wrong way when its should be hooking the band off its doing the opposite

1)First, you turn the square belt lifter on the front of the power nozzle until the red arrows line up (belt off)
2)Remove the power head from the front of the machine. Now turn the belt lifter the other way and line the green arrows up again (belt on).
3)Turn it upside down and release the two clips that hold the metal baseplate on and remove the baseplate.
New brushrolls are available here...  NEW KIRBY BRUSHROLLS

Can not put the head on so the belt will stay on

make sure the belt is position in the middle before u put the head on . hook the belt on by turning it to red. its easier when u put the height adjuster all the way up. slid the head straight onto the front. and lift the back so it goes over the ledge. and then pull the lock down to secure. amke sure the safetly switch is activated. then turn it to green. when u turn the kirby on if the green light is greena dn not off or dim or on and off. then u put the belt on correctly. if green light is not on . try again .. it comes with practise. once u get the hang of it .. its pretty easy

Kirby diamond edition - shampooer

1. Raise the vacuum head all of the way up. 2. Remove the vacuum head by removing the belt and releasing it. 3. Place the shampooer head on the vacuum by securing the clamp and them put the belt on 4. Take the bag off of the vacuum by twisting at the base just slightly outward and lifting upwards and unclamp it from the handle 5. Put water and cleaner into the water resevoir. 6. Put the reservoir on to the kirby where the bag was by holding it parallel to the vacuum then using both hands, twist it outward slowly until it goes down onto the unit then twist back to parallel position. 7. Put the coil looking piece on the shampooer head on top where the hole is...it will only fit one way successfully. 8. Put the other end on the under side of the water reservoir. 9. Lower the shampooer head all of the way down on the carpet just like you would the vacuum head 10. Turn on the vacuum and reach down and turn the knob at the top of the reservoir, this will begin putting cleaner (tons of foam) onto the carpet. Just work in 3' x 3' sections, turning off the foam intermitently until you are finished. I hope this helps.

Re-connecting Vacuum Head

on the kirby head is a square knob with the kirby name on it. use your finger and pull out the belt and rotate the knob until the metal pawl engages the belt. keep turning until it stops. the belt should be in the correct position to install the head. place the whole head onto the lower two tangs and lift up. now rotate the wedge clamp until it stops. then rotate the belt lifter till the knob is straight.
