The firewire that came with my ZR60 Digital Video Camera doesn't fit my computer'sUSB port...... one end fits in the front of the camera -- the composite input/output, I think......The other end has a 723 on it (it is flat on three sides and round on the 4th side).... How do I download my digital tape onto my computer? I was able to purchase a Firewire Hub (since my PC did not have a 6-pin cable) so I could connect my 4-pin cable to the Canon ZR60 and then the 6-pin cable to the Hub where it also had a USB that would connect to the computer so the data should flow; however, my camera is not sending the DV OUT to the PC (via HUB). Instead, it says DV IN and I can't find a way to get the DV OUT to work. Please assist. Yes, these units in particular have a common problem with the CCD sensors. It is not exactly an inexpensive repair, and if you had to pay for it yourself, would probably exceed the value of the camera. Contact Canon support as they may replace the CCD for free or under a special warranty, since the problem was so pervasive. If Canon won't replace it for you, you probably need to look into a new camcorder.
Hi,
You can convert mini disc ( 8 cm diameter ) to a standard DVD disc via your PC.
Please follow this steps :
1. Install your canon software/driver in PC
2. Install DVD creator in PC ( common software is use Nero scout)
3. Download your mini disc data to PC
4. Enhanced your data with Nero
5. Burn your data to standard DVD
Make sure you have DVD RW hardware in your PC.
It was only after I wrote to seek your advice that after reading the instruction manual again I discovered that the Fire Wire port on my Philips DVD recorder/player is described as "DV IN only". This will account for the fact that I have been unable to make a copy of the DVD onto a mini DV in a camcorder through the fire wire. It seems that I will have to forget about copying a DVD onto a Mini-DV..
Many thanks for your quick response to my question
I
have found several other people with the same problem Canon ZR60 won't
record ,only get a black screen ,only a few years old with less than 75
hours use .Can this be fixed free from Canon .
Your CCD is bad. Call customer Service at Canon and tell them the model and the problem and they will fix it for free and pay the shipping. I've done this a lot. It's a problem with the ZR60, 65 &70.
I have the same problem with my zr60. The firewire port on 3 macs and one PC will not detect the camera in VCR or camera mode. I have the feeling the firewire port in the camera died since the ports in the computers is able to detect other firewire devices.
