SOURCE: How do I factory restore an Emachine w3609?

You might be able to purchase a set of factory image CDs from eMachines, but not all manufacturers make them available. You might also find sets for sale on eBay and from some other vendors.

Without the factory restore CDs, you can still reinstall Windows but you'll need to do a little more work. Download the drivers for your system (audio, video, etc.) from the eMachines website and save them on a flash drive. Find a copy of the XP installation CD for your version. You may be able to borrow one from someone. Do a regular installation of Windows, using the product key from the sticker on your computer. Install the drivers you downloaded as required for anything that Windows doesn't properly detect and support. Then activate your Windows installation.

This is sometimes a good thing to do. Some brands of computers come preloaded with so many "bloatware" applications and programs that try to be helpful that doing a clean install like this gives you a faster system when you're done.

The downside is that any preloaded applications that may be worth having, such as antivirus/antispyware applications, media players or CD/DVD burning software won't be there. You will need to do that yourself. There are plenty to choose from for downloading. My picks are avast! for antivirus use, InfraRecorder for disc burning, Winamp for media playing.

SOURCE: i have an emachines computer with vista...need to

If you notice your disk drive having a partition for recovery, you may have an option to do system recovery from boot up.

Most desktops have this option during the boot up process. So before windows logo appears on Startup, press F11 key.

This procedure will restore your computer's system from the very first time you used it. So, better back up all the important files and documents before doing this.

Emachines usually gives you restore disk to restore it to factory setting (out-of-the box). see if you can find that disk if not you can contact Emachines and get it from them. it should not be too expensive just shipping could be part of expanse. i would say about $25. i would call emachines and get it from them

How to restore to factory settings

  • Use a memory device such as a rewritable DVD or external hard drive to back up the data you need to save from your eMachines computer. Any data that isn't saved to an external source will be erased when the computer is restored to factory settings.

  • Remove any discs that are in the optical drive and unplug the computer's peripheral devices, such as an Ethernet cable or scanner. Do not disconnect the keyboard and mouse. Bring up the "Start" menu and choose "All Programs."

  • Navigate to "eMachines" and then "eMachines Recovery Management." Click the tab labeled "Restore," which is located at the top of the window.

  • Click "Password Settings" if you have not already set a recovery password. Type a new password in the text box and then click "OK." Click "Restore System to Factory Default."

  • Type the recovery password and click "OK." Click "Next" to wipe the eMachines computer's hard drive and begin the recovery process.

  • Select "Finish" and wait for the eMachines computer to restart. Use the series of installation prompts that appears on the screen to create a new user account for your operating system, set the system date and time, and set up your Internet settings.

Im trying to get my pc to go to its original settings factort restore

The only way to restore your computer to factory setting with all the software/bloatware as it came with your computer the first day you start it up, you will need the factory restore disk that came with the computer if one is provide, if not usually with e-machine product, which doesn't provide you with a factory restore disk, you will have to create one yourself using a dvd-r. Usually you will have to go the the emachine recovery/back up management option in your menu programs and use that program to make the factory restore disk, after making that disc, you will need to insert the disc, and shuit down the computer and restart it. It will prompt you to follow direction once the factory restore disk is boot up. Follow the directions and you should be good to go. If there isn't a recovery managment program or a factory restore disk provided, you will need to contact emachine up.... usually they can send you factory restore disk for a small fee.

I want to to return my emachine to factory settings..Have the T2958 ver 1.1 restore dvd. Won't auto run- I click on the icon and its just text. Is that a command prompt?

you will need to restart the computer and boot off the restore dvd.
This is done outside of the operating system.

When computer is first turned on keep hitting f10 untill you get the boot menu up, choose the dvd drive and it should work for you.

My friends computer has a virus. She uses Avast Antivirus which I've always had good luck with. Her computer is an Emachine with windows XP operating system. Avast found a virus after running a thorough...

It may not be a virus. It sounds more like a bad case of spyware. You may want to download, install, update, and run something like Malwarebytes AntiMalware. It sounds pretty serious, so it may need the attention of a PC technician to fully remove the infection.

    Hope this helps!

    Cant fix my pc

look at the screen as soon as the computer boots up. see if there is a function key that says "system restore" .If there is no recovery partition , you are going to have to order a set of disk from emachines. Or use a licensed copy of xp and manually download and install the drivers.

I want to reboot my pc to factory setting

All you need to do is insert the discs and follow the instructions. Though restoring this way adds a lot of un-needed additional software. I prefer to get a real copy of windows and do a fresh install. let me know if you need further assistance.
    Thank you,
