Jamo, DMR 61 keeps rejecting DVD and CD; player not reading disks
As noted above, just recently the Jamo DMR 61 has been rejecting DVDs and CDs and not loading.
I place the DVD/CD in the tray, which closes and then it automatically opens again and fails to load. I have tried numerous disks in the player, thinking it may be dirty/scratched disks but the fault appears to be with the system.
There does not appear to be any noise as you would expect to hear when the player is loading and attempting to read the disk.
Grateful for any assistance.
My DVD player on the DMR 60 started to act up; not reading the disk, I took the DMR unit apart and found 2 capacitors on the powersupply (one 10V 1000microF, the other 10V 2200 microF) to be defective (top of the capacitor slightly bulged out instead of flat) I replaced them with same values but higher voltage caps. Have a detailed answer on wiki.answers under how to fix a dvd player. My conclusion is : 1. If the cd or dvd player won't start a disc (might display 'no disc')
open the box and get good access to the laser lens (quite easy in many
models). Clean the lens with an ear-bud (q-tip) and add some alcohol (I
used after shave) on to aid the clean if there are still reading
problems. Persevere with cleaning before trying option 2. 2. If
it's selectively rejecting certain dvd's (and the problem might have
become worse with time) consider ever-so-slightly bending the fine wires
that suspend the lens over the laser, in an upward direction. Be very
careful and read all the observations above first (on Wiki).
most sony CD and DVD players have a digital signature design to play CDs and DVDs that are original and licensed. some CDs or DVDs dont work since the player does not recognize or scan any digital signature embedded in the CD or a DVD. 2nd, lens problem causes most players not to read CDs nor DVDs. you can try to buy CD or DVD lens cleaners to have your lens cleaned.
I just saw the date on this message and realize that it was awhile ago. I assume that you have dealt with it by now... So for others who are trying to fix their DVD player:
I have a DMR-EZ485V DVD player and just started getting the error message "No Read." I couldn't find an answer on the internet and finally called Panasonic's customer service, (there is no charge 1.800.211.7262). Since it says "No Read" to everything--store-bought DVDs, burned DVDs, CDs; AND when there is nothing in there (it acts like it is trying to read when the tray is empty), the customer service rep thinks that I am having a lens issue. It either needs to be cleaned (can pick-up a product at Best Buy or Radio Shack) or, if that doesn't work, the lens needs to be replaced.
If the lens is clean (clean with cotton swab and alcohol), then the optics are failing. DVDs require more power and accuracy to be read than CDs. The ability to read CDs but not DVDs is usually a good indication that the optics are starting to fail.
i have got the remote and i can supply to you for a small fee.
i have got the DMR 61 REMOTE and the DMR60 ALL BRAND NEW.
email me and make me an offer.
I have the same problem. I have been in contact with Jamo Denmakr and Norway. They are aware of the problem. There are two issues/answers: 1 If the DVD your're playing has scratches reading error accumulate and then audio sync problems occur. (My meaning is lo quality DVD drive). You might overcome this by reburning the divx file to a new disc to avoid read errors. 2 The DVD drive itself is defective and should be replaced. Warranty should cover this of course. I do receive my DMR-61 this week after DVD drive change. I hope this will fix it...but I don't believe so. Crossing my fingers.
hi ,
it is quiet clear that you have a miss reading laser gun
you have to try to clean the eye piece with a cd cleaner disk ,it is cheep ,try to buy one and put it in the the tray and play for couple of minutes Aand that is all
please don't forget to rate ,thx
Regards
Chances are, your DVD player uses one laser to read CDs, and a different laser to read DVDs (since Cds and DVDs are read at different wavelenghts of light). If the DVDs you're trying to watch work properly in other DVD players, it probably means that the DVD laser is dirty, damaged, or burned out. Though you can try cleaning the laser (use Google for suggestions on how to do this, or check the Audiovox website), you will most likely have to get the DVD player repaired, or buy a replacement.
Many of the newer CD/DVD players sold today use a single combination laser, which reads both CDs and DVDs, which means that when the laser fails, it will not work at all. Wish I had better news for you, but I guess that the only consolation you have is that your Audivox player still works with CDs...
Did you get thkis problem fixed? I have the same...
