Suddenly my phone stopped showing the names of the contacts sending me text messages, only their numbers. This went on for a couple weeks and then that stopped. But then it stopped displaying text messages received until you restarted the phone. It obviously has received them from the carrier but does not show them or notify you about them until you restart. I know this because as soon as its booting up with the Nokia screen, the keypad blinks signalling it has new messages. Some text messages will come through from some senders without restarting, but sometimes not. But if you restart and haven't received any messages, the next text message or two will come up properly at the time when it is received. I feel like if I'm wearing out my phone by how many times I've had to restart it. I read about this glitch on the Nokia forums, as others have had the same problem, but no solution as how to fix it has been found.

Are you sending to someone who would have you in their contact list. If not, then likely the phone has no way to know it is you texting. Typically texts are sent as phone number and the receiving phone checks it's contact list to see if it matches anyone and then substitutes the name for the number automatically.
Usually to receive texts or send texts check with your network Operator as there is a text message Centre Number. Make sure that that is the same message Centre number you are using in message settings is same as provided by your Network Provider
check the phone book entries...possible the names are appearing twice in the phonebook...or the format in which nos are saved could be diff from the format of numbers u get message ...eg : u might have stores only no and when u recieve msg it might come with a 0 or country code too
The problem is from your message center number,it has been changed.
what you should do is to contact your service provider and request for the message center number, you will then go to message settings, select text message,go to message center and type the number you have been given, save it then restart your phone
go to message setting, text message, text meassage center, then try changing to another center, ( i've got 3 dif centers to pic from but only the first one lets me send text messages)
go to ur message settings and set the phone caller id on and press ok after some time when any message come from ur contact numbers it will show or it is unkonwn number means it will not shown
try entering the (+) plus sign and the country code then the mobile number / editing the numbers of your contacts. such as, a mobile number alone (depending on the sim) that reads as 09178943874 must be edited as +639178943874 (noting that +63 is the country code).
On every phone there are settings that can stop you sending texts. However all phones should still receive texts even if all the settings were changed. As the text message is directed to you mobile number you should still be receiving?
When you compose your text and select contact does the phone move them to the out/sent box?
Settings to check for sending are your 'message centre number' (your network provider can supply and they are normally different for pay monthly and pay & go) 'Message sent as' should be 'text' (not fax or email etc).
Text problems are common where people change or delete digits from the message centre number by mistake.
If you cannot receive texts i would recommend speaking to your provider for help as it may be your account details at their end? (beyond your control). Hope that helps?
