pull out the racks and remove the bottom floor of the oven,turn it on bake,if the ignitor doesn't glow most likely it's bad,if it does glow and it doesn't ignite within 40 to 60 seconds the ignitor is bad.even though it glows doesn't mean it's good,it works by amps.it takes 3.2 amps.for a flat ignitor to open the gas valve and 2.5 amps for a round ignitor to open the gas valve.

My bet is that the broiler ignitor has been out for a while and you just never knew it...
I would change the ignitor as a first try to fix it it is themost common failure..
Hi I have a older GE that the oven won't light. It is a gas range that is electric ignited. The top burners do work but the oven will not light. Is it pricey to have this fixed?
There is a valve on the rear to contorl the flow of gas to the oven that can be turned off or can go bad. Check it to make sure it hasn't gotten switched off and if its still not working (with swith flipped in the opposite direction) you probably have a bad valve
