GE ASM10AK 10,200 BTU Room Air Conditioner is 115 volt, but it blows the circuit regularly becasue it has many other devices on it (IE computer, PS3, WII, LCD TV etc.). I have a 220 outlet on a separate circuit. I did not buy a 229 AC becasue I wanted to save money on the unit and electricity. Now I want to buy a step down transformer 220-115 so I can plug it into the 220 outlet. GE said not to do it. Will it use electricity equivalent to 220 or 115 with the transformer plugged into the 220 outlet? How many watts should the transformer be?

It would be easier to change the 220 circuit in your house to a 110 by some creative work in the breaker panel and making it an air condtioner circuit only. You would need to check with an electrician, but would probably be worth it in the long run.

Then you might be able to use an converter as you can't change apartment wiring. Google OHMS law and it gives you the equations to figure out watts, volts, amps, etc. You just need a calculator. It's the amps that trips the breaker. Another solution would be to run an extension cord rated for the amperage from a less used circuit.

NEED HELP TO REPLACE WIRES ON CAPACITOR ON GE ROOM AIR CONDITIONER 8000 BTU

with capacitors it doesn't matter which wire goes on which terminal
if it has just 2 terminals then a wire on each
if it has 4 terminals then one wire on one set and the other wire on the other set
A set is two terminals side by side
However if you are still undecided , get an electrician to fit the wires.

Does the 15100 Kenmore BTU need a dedicated line in order to not blow a fuse?

Is this a 120 volt unit? If so, you might try to find the amp rating on the unit itself. A 120 volt unit that big will have to have a circuit all by itself. Probably a 20 amp breaker, no less than 15 amp just for the air conditioner.

If it is 240 volt, it will definitely have to have its own circuit.

Happy to assist,

HOW MANY BTU IS THE AIR CONDITIONER?
And is it 110 or 220 line!

If it is using 110 or 115 volts like normal house current and it throws circuit breakers in your electric box, then you need to run a dedicated line just for the Air Conditioner!
Usually this happens to 110 -115 volt air-conditioners that are more than 12,000 BTU and do not have a dedicated electric line in the wall only for the air conditioner!

New air conditioners have a circuit breaker built into the units plug!
And I have seen some that throw that breaker to off frequently even if it's only an electric surge! Which it should not do!
if its the case and it's new, take it back to the store and ask for a different model, size, or brand!
Fedders had an 18,000 BTU/ 110-115 volt unit that did this with every single unit last year! I stopped selling that unit only!!
