Frig not cold but freezer is ice maker not making much ice either

I have a amana afd2535des french doors, bottom freezer. the frig is warm the freezer is cold, the damper is open in the top back wall, but no air is coming out hot or cold. there seems to be some frost on the back wall of the freezer but not alot the cold water is working. mike

    fan was working in the back could feel air coming out from around the back of the outside of the frig

    Hi



    We have had our refrigerator about 26 months and today we replaced the fan. Fridge was hot and freezer was cold. I'm going to contact Amana to see if I can get this part covered. I am very concerned about the longevity of the refrigerator if I am already having these problems. I also found three other people who posted issues with the fan.

Is your fan blowing in the freezer? Frost on the back wall of the freezer usually indicates a defrost problem... defrost themostate, heaters, take back panel off and check evap for frost build up and if your fan in working.

    If you fan is working.. you must have a defrost problem.. your post said, u had frost build up it the freeser.. take back off freezer
    and if evap is frosted you have defrost problem...

Sounds as if a condenser fan has gone bad. Most models it is located in the top freezer section. The frig section gets it cold air from the fan.

If we both are on the correct subject then it is possible the water control valve on back of refrigerator is not working. If ice tray is dry then fill with water from a cup and let freeze. If the ice maker dumps the ice let me know and we will go from there. Sea Breeze

Chances are if they are getting cool but not cold-

1) the evaporator fan in the freezer is not running
2) Defrost heater has failed
3) Defrost sensor has failed
4) Defrost timer/refrigerator control has failed.

Check for ice build-up on the back wall of the freezer. If there is ice, unplug or turn the unit off for 6-8 hours with the doors open (put any food in a cooler with ice to maintain). Note water may come out of the refrigerator.
Plug the unit back in or turn it back on, close the doors, and check temperature after a couple of hours of operation. If all OK, you will need to have the above tested, or, if you know how to use a multimeter and can read a schematic/wiring diagram, I can instruct you on how to check the above.

see if there is any ice caught within the ice maker itself preventing proper cycling of the ice maker. if not pop off the white cover to the ice maker(theres small **** in the cover on bottom right corner of white cover to insert a ***** driver and twist the cover will pop off. look into the center of the main plastic gear, there should be 2 "tabs" holding that gear in place . as if you were to push gear on and the tabs would keep it in place.( reason i mention that it is/was a problem with the ice makers hat the gear would break and it was very noticeable looking into the center gear).if not, theres a detailed trouble shooter for the ice maker behind the kickplate(maybe taped up under front corner under cabinet) it will tell you points to check for power and jump out if necessary

Amana French Door Refrigerator "on" but no cooling; freezer still works
There are 2 possible problems. One is the defrost cycle is not working properly this is usually indicated by a large amount of frost on the back freezer panel. If so, the circuit will have to be repaired and the evaperator thawed to remove the ice build up. The other is the fresh food damper is not working properly this is behind the "lump" in the back of the fridge compartment above the top shelf, remove the louver panel to see if it is open or closed. closed will be warm open should be cold. The water dispenser reservoir is probably frozen due to poor air circulation.
