Not detecting 896

My MOTU 896 HD worked fine until one day i let a friend borrow it. I checked to make sure everything worked by showing him how to properly put it all together. He set it up at his house and it would not detect the MOTU.

I got it back from him, and tried fixing it by reinstalling the software, and my cd drive ended up disappearing from my computer. I eventually fixed that problem, but then realized the the plug and play driver was corrupted while searching in device manager. I fixed that by reinstalling windows xp.

I installed Xp with sp3 not knowing that that could cause driver problems. So I installed the MOTU from the cd and hooked up my MOTO 896HD and turned it on and I got no response. I tried installing everything on an older computer, and yet again no response. Took the MOTU to work and plugged it in to my computer at work just to try and get a response, and nothing.

I am pretty certain it has to do with the MOTU interface, but I could be wrong. Kinda sad that such an expensive piece of equipment can fall apart just like that though.

While it was working, it did sound beautiful.

Same thing here. Tried hooking this thing up to my sister's mac because she wanted to listen to some stuff on it. Doesn't get detected anymore. If you have an answer please please post!

I have had the same issue with my 896. Your only option is to get it servived by a motu, or audio equivilant technician. Its not a major problem that you have, but the firwire contacts have loosened to the point of lost signal. It wont talk with your computer unless that firewire connector is solid. The moving is what did this, Once i moved mine a few times same thing happened. If you're on a tight budget you can teach yourself how to sauder online then you can cimply pop off the back plate remove the old connector, replace it and sauder into place. Hope this was helpful

Boot Problem in my ASUS Eee PC 900 netbook

First - re-seat the hard disk and reboot the computer. If the computer does not boot up then reboot and go into the BIOS configuration to see if the BIOS detects the hard drive. If it doesn't detect the hard drive then it could be faulty.
Then the hard drive needs to be replaced in the computer/laptop, Windows installed and the computer or laptop's device drivers plus your programs etc. to get a functioning computer/laptop again.

This has happened three times today and I give up!! I'll be working along fine with my Asus Eee 1000HE netbook running WinXP and then .... poof! The mouse won't work, touchpad won't work,...

Hi,
try going into safemode with networking, then download malwarebytes just google it, it will give you the link where to get it or click the links I provided.
Install it on the machine then if it asks to restart go ahead and restart in normal mode it should install on its own, after the installation it will ask you to update it so just go ahead and do the update after the update do a scan it will detect what AVG cannot, after the detection just go to quarantine and delete the files detected as threaths.
then restart your computer and see if the issue will happen again.
If the issue still happen I suggest that you try reformatting windows just to narrow down if the issue can be software or Hardware.
I hope this helps.

I have a sound blaster audigy 24 bit 7.1 sound card . it worked fine on windows xp but when i inserted the card in the slot for my new computer on windows 7 it says that no card was found :/ when i install...

Move the card to a different pci slot on the motherboard. It may have a conflict with another device. Make sure there is no power to the pc when you do this. If you still have the problem after trying all the slots then i suggest you empty all of them and just try the audio card on its own. If it works then fit the card/s you removed into other slots. good luck.

Its not even showing up on my computer that it is connected

Not to be a wise guy, but did you have the memory card in it when you connected up? If so, take it out and clean the contacts with a soft cloth and at least 90% alcohol. Also, look inside the reader to make sure none of the 4 pins are bent or broken. If all this fails, try it on another usb port. Sometimes they get reassigned by software or something, and won't detect certain devices on certain ports, for unknown (to me) reasons. If all this fails, try the card reader on another computer (maybe you should try this first). If everything fails, I would deduce the card reader is bad, and get another one. Good luck.
