I think i blew a fuse playing with my cigarete lighter in my 1996 jeep cherokee. My stereo & cigarete lighter stopped working & i need to fix the stereo ASAP. I've checked the fusebox & none of the fuses apear to be blown, but i dont know exactly wich fuse is the stereo fuse. Is there a diagram i could use/ easy way to test the fuses to see wich is dead?
So i swapped out that fuse (wich didnt appear to be blown in my initial assesment) and i still havent had any luck. On other postings ive seen that the short/ground wires can come undone, but there fine in my jeep. Could i have shorted out the entire fusebox? or does anyone know of a different solution?
thanks very much!So i swapped out that fuse (wich didnt appear to be blown in my initial assesment) and i still havent had any luck. Try disconnecting your cig lighter. Test with a test light to see if you have power to the cig lighter. If power is present then the circuit is good. Next remove the plug from your stereo and test for power. If power is available then take the test light and connect the ground side to battery + test the ground side (black wire) of the cig lighter and the ground side of the stereo. Please report back. We can get to the problem from here. I have not had alot of problem with fuse boxes but jeep has been known for open circuits in wiring. Good Luck and shoot back anytime! Thanks Steve

The same thing happened to me. There are two fuses that have the radio and cigarette lighter labeled on them (like # 2 & 12 if I'm not mistaken, ones a 15 amp and the other may be a 10). I actually just quit using the lighter all together because my stereo was far more important.

You have 2 fuses on the radio. There are also two fuses in the fuse panel one would be marked ignition and the other one memory or lighter clock combination. Please check these first
A thumbs up would be greatly appreciated if answer is helpful for your question. THANK you and GOD BLESS
Unplug the stereo system and check your fuse box. Locate the fuse that blew and replace it.
At this point you may want to consider having a professional install the stereo. Good luck and...stay warm!
Ok there oil presure plug that gets dirty next to the oil filter you can replace if oil presure ore just spray with some car spray see if that works. With stereo pull out buy cheep one see if does the same with the cheep unit could be head unit.
when you look at the fuse box inside your car you will see a cigarette with smoke emitting from it for the cigarette lighter and the power outlet will have a button like picture on it.
If that many things went out at the same time its most likely a fuse issue. There are usually 2 fuse panels in the Jeep - one under the hood and one by the steering column. Check the proper fuses to see if they blew out and replace if needed.
