Cannot enable my gps on the htc touch

I am attempting to use the navigational features of my HTC Touch phone but when I select ''GPS locate me'' it always says it cannot locate me and to check my settings. I've read the HTC manual over and over again and troubleshooted every possibility but the one thing my phone does not display is the gps icon which should mean it's activated, nor does the right indicator light blink amber showing that gps is enabled. I've checked the location settings and everything is set as the manual suggests. Alltel Tech Support was of no help, shocking huh? Any ideas?

The HTC Touch shown in the picture does not hav a built-in GPS antenna. What it has is GPS support for an external GPS unit via bluetooth.

Can i activate gps maps on my instrument htc touch 3g t3232

Friend, You can run maps on any phone. If it has GPS then you will get correct position with the help of satellites and if it does not have a GPS then you will get approximate position with the help of cell communication towers. You must download google maps from www.google.com/maps. That is the most fantastic maps that are available free for almost all phones. The best part is that it has Latitude feature with the help of which you and your friends can keep track of one another on your respective phones. This feature is free too.

How to use the GPS on HTC Touch Diamond

GPS is built into the Touch Diamond. You will not be able to access it as such. It will be used automatically by any GPS enabled piece of software. Try downloading and installing google maps to demonstrate this

How does gps navigation work on htc touch diamond

Yeah, google maps does not navigate, it only shows your location, and shows directions, but I think it should follow you with the gps, I can't check at the moment as my gps is broken...

But I do know for sure that it will not tell you, with voice and text, when to turn and how much of a distance you have to make that turn, etc.
Navigation software is a must if you are planning to use it while driving..Google Maps is enough if you ask me though, but only if you have an unlimited data plan...otherwise get navigation software, which has the maps stored as data straight on your phone.

How can i activate my GPS on my cell HTC touch

supposedly the touch comes with a built in gps receiver just like the tytn2, however it needs to be activated as the australian version has it switched off (probably for marketing reasons). it is tricky to turn it on but it can be done, check out the xda developers forum for threads on how to do this. I think you need to install a new radio rom and new firmware, good luck!!
