I have a Sony STR-DE915 Receover. It was flashing "Protector" on the display window when the power was turned on for a few seconds. I could smell burning odor (seems from the big transformer), but did not see any smoking coming out. I have not connected any speaker and component to it.
Can you tell me what's wrong? Is it the power supply problem.
Serious problem either in the power supply or output stages of receiver.

if your preferring to protect light your either, pushing to much power, or a wire could be touching along the line. Check all your wiring even the ones behind the receiver that could be your problem
