Samsung HC-P4752W power and/or convergence problems

My HC-P4752W had the same IC symptoms as many others here so I followed the advice and installed 2 new STK392-040 (because I read that they were better than the 010's). The problem was not fixed because I couldn't move the "blue color" in the service menu. According to the service manual, before you leave the menu, you need to select "reset" to save. I did that and now the TV will power up for 1 second, then shut off... Then it tries to re-start again only to shut off 1 second later. I figured it was a 3.9 ohm resistor problem so I checked all 12. (10 were fine, 2 were replaced). I figured THIS would do the trick, but still no luck. It still powers up for only a second, and then shuts down. Here’s the tricky part.... I can access the “mute-182” service menu without a problem and the input plays fine in the background (which means it doesn’t sound like a “power” problem to me because otherwise, it wouldn’t stay on, right?) AND when I go to the “mute-183” menu to move colors on the grid, all colors can move (suggesting that I no longer have a convergence problem). Does anyone have an idea of what is wrong? Sounds like you soldered two of the convergence pins together by accident. If its shorted the TV will shut down.

The value you are looking for is 3.9 ohm. Just ohm them out and replace the ones that are not right on the money= very important for longevity. Don't forget to clean and apply new heat sink compound to the heat sinks.

if the ic have been replaced, it may be necessary to refocus the rprojection tubes, this is done by moving the rings near the bottom of the tube, determine which tube and by focusing the lens .. be careful when doing so high voltage can kill you!!

I need the outer screen for my Samsung HC-P4752W. Mine has a red line that seems burnt into it. Where can I get one?

It sounds like the RED CRT is cracked which will cause a red line. You can verify by looking into the lens of the Red CRT with a flasnlight if you see a line the CRT needs replacement. If no line then chances are the Convergence IC may have a problem.

RED CONVERGENCE SCREEN PATTERN BOWING AND CAN'T ADJUST

The most likely cause is shorted convergence chips and possibly a few pico fuses.

These sets need to have all three colors - RED - BLUE - GREEN - lined up correctly on the screen in order for the picture to look normal. This is called convergence.

When its out of alignment the video will look 3-D, wavy, distorted, etc. Most of the time you just need to adjust your convergence in the menu. If you cannot adjust it in the menu - then your convergence is broken and needs to be repaired. Convergence problems are very common on all Projection TV sets including Sony,Samsung,JVC,Philip Magnavox,Panasonic,Akai,Pioneer Hitachi,Mitsubishi,Zenith and others.
You can get a convergenece repair kit with instructions from the links below.

Here are some of the most common problems with these sets...

Problem #1) Convergence

Yours may have one or more of the following symptoms...

*Screen Looks 3-D
*Colors wont align
*Screen may look distorted or warped
*No Audio/Video - TV Shuts down - May also make a constant chirping sound

Problem #2
Another common problem is dull or washed out video.

Your set may have one or more of the following symptoms....

*Dull looking picture
*White looking picture
*Halos around objects
*Red/Orange looking picture

Tv won't turn on after repair

the first two things to check is to make sure none of the IC pins arent bridged with solder, and the other is to determine all wires are connected correctly and firmly.

Convergence issues

if youre having convergence issues with your samsung HC-P4752W you need to replace both convergence ICs numbers STK392-010 they are available at the following link and they provide free instalation instructions with pics so you can do the repair your self and they also give free tech support in case you need extra help. Its an easy repair takes about an hour from start to finish, Changing the convergence board wont help as the Convergence ICs are located on the sub deflection board and thats about 400 to replace the board compared to 50 to replace the ICs. Heres the link.

Samsung HC-P4752W Ghosting, seeing yellow, bowed lower left

What might be happening is that your convergence is out of adjustment. Before removing the Convergence ICs try to adjust your convergence either from the onscreen adjustment (see your owners manual) or by using a signal generator (if you have one). I am against this "lets start swapping parts out" craze that has become the norm because you never fix the cause of your problem just the symptoms. I would suggest trying to adjust the convergence first. Thank you, Shuttle83,

HC-P4752W - IC Replacement vs Convergence Module.

The colors weren't lining up correctly on my HC-P4752W which is only about 30 months old. I did a little bit of research and got ahold of the people at http://servicemanuals.vstore.ca/ They recommended replacing the IC's as well as the IC resistors. I purchased the replacement parts from their site and made the repairs myself. I should mention that I didn't have any previous soldering experience. The repair was easy and a complete success. You may find replacement parts elsewhere for slightly cheaper but what you won't find is the prompt and detailed customer service that they provide. They gave me there # and said to call if I had any questions before or during repair. I took advantage of their services and got answers every time I called.

Convergence Problem inSamsung HC-P4752W 47" Rear Projection

One of the convergence output IC's has burned out and needs to be replaced. If the IC opens up inside then it stops working without blowing any fuses or resistors. The IC should be replaced and the set realigned by someone with experience in convergence circuits.
